I read In Cold Blood by Truman Capote years ago, and was very impressed by it.....when I learned that this author also wrote Breakfast at Tiffany's I was really surprised....
I was interested to read in Peter Falk's autobiography Just One More Thing: Stories from My Life that he starred alongside Truman Capote in Murder By Death. There are a couple of anecdotes mentioned in the book about Truman Capote researching In Cold Blood.
I had to Wikapedia him. In Cold Blood gone on my to read list. Saw another strange link in story that Harper Lee of To Kill A Mocking Bird fame assisted in the research
Robert....there's a good movie which tells the story of the friendship between the two authors whilst he was researching the book.....sadly I can't remember what it's called!

Agreed.....extremely poor man's Eric Morecambe.
Bob - In Cold Blood is a great read.

I was quite surprised that Harper Lee only wrote the one book, at least I think that's what they said in the film (I watched both Capote films, so don't know where the info came from).Always mildly surprising too that Stephen king wrote stand by me, at a time when he used to be all about the blood and guts....
So that was Truman Capote in 'Murder by Death'? I remember watching that on TV years ago. Maggie Smith was in it too (and Peter Sellers playing a Chinese detective (very dodgy by today's standards).
