9/2 So far, I've read about 25 pages in my current book, The Outsiders. What I've read so far, is Ponyboy getting jumped by a group of mean, rich kids. When he realized that they would probably KILL him, the sound of footsteps grew louder. After Darry picked Ponyboy off the ground, he explained that he and his friends noticed him in need and came and helped him.
I have to admit, this is my favorite part of the story, so far. I like this part because it shows the main issue in the story, the Socs and greasers showing aggression towards each other. After that, they all headed to Darry's house and exchanged dialogue, which is actually what the story is probably about, a group of boys who share their lives with each other, yet still stand dealing with the Socs.
9/3 I read a few more pages of the Book, the Outsiders. In this part of the book, Dallas is planning on breaking in to the Move Theater. So, he asks everyone to come along with him. Darry had to work, Two-bit didn't mention much, but Johnny and Ponyboy decided to come along.
I like this book so far. From what I've read, its about a group of boys, referred to as "Greasers", who have a tough time dealing with rich kids, "Socs". Both in which treat each other like they're trash. The Greasers are lower-class citizens who live on the East side of their town in Oklahoma, who barely have anything to show except their bond. The Socs, however, are the exact opposite. They're rich, live in the East side of town. They also have plenty to show, like their Mustangs, madras, etc.
9/4 Today, I read another 5 pages in the Outsiders. This part of the book is about how Ponyboy, Johnny, Two-Bit, and Dallas(Dally) met Cherry and her friend, Marcia. Cherry apparently has a problem with Dallas in this chapter, but Ponyboy and Johnny manage to become friends with her.
This part of the book isn't really one of my favorites on what I've read so far. Yes, they mentioned the Greasers vs. Soc issue. But it barely explains much of the plot at all. It's just MY opinion, so don't judge me, but this part of the story I wouldn't want to read again.
