It comprises 15 stories and one novella length piece, literary fiction, straining narrative fit to burst out of their own language, dense tales of little times and quiet voices given megaphones, stuttered on pages amidst hope and despair, truth and fiction, meaning and not, rooted in a sense of place and of how we can possibly hope to live in the twenty first century, life on the small scale it feels or, as DFW said, about what it is to be a fucking human being. The stories in this collection were written between around 2008 (in a weird period of productivity resultant from terminally monotonous temp work) and this year and have grown with me into a style.
If any of you want to take a look it would be desperately appreciated.
I studied literature at Goldsmiths College and have since worked in the book trade, and am now very slowly working through an MA and (less slowly) being a father. And trying to navigate my away around these hallowed boards.
I am currently working on several projects, another collection called "Smiling I Blame TV" and my novel "The Nuclear Powered Heart" (which I've been working n for so long the words themselves now creak with age), as well as editing and annotating Herman Henschel Koprowsky's masterpiece "The Encyclopaedia of Imagined Objects". I am also trying to finish off an account of my experiences attempting to single-handedly save popular music by way of a Ballardian boyband.
