Mandy (mettakaruna) What did you think of Beach House? I read all of Jane Green's books but I was disappointed with the last two. Thoughts?

message 3: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 305 comments Cindy, the pace you are setting is incredible! I'm keeping count of the books I read this year and I'm thinking I should hit about 80 at the rate I'm going but you're just blowing me out of the water!

What did you think of Garden Spells?

message 4: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments I really liked The Beach House! Not sure if I have read any of her other books or not, but this one was great!

I was disappointed with Garden Spells. It wasn't terrible by any means and not real sure why I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would....

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* Gosh Cindy! You go girl!
I haven't read Garden Spells but Sugar Queen was like that for me...not really sure why I wasn't crazy about it.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 43. The House at Riverton

The House at Riverton was a great book! I am wavering between 4 and 5 stars only because for me it got a little boring in the middle, but then it picked up the pace and was wonderful! I highly recommend it!

message 7: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Shelby, my pace has slowed down this month! I am still trying to finish Antarctic Navigation...such a long book and got a little side tracked!

Elizabeth (Alaska) Cindy wrote: "43. The House at Riverton

Yea!!!! I purchased this book with last weekend's 40% Border coupon. Glad to know I spent it wisely.

message 9: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Thanks Cindy. I'm going to pick it up.

message 10: by Holli (new)

Holli I really want to read that one Cindy!!

message 11: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) Cindy - you are doing awesome!! I set a goal for 100 this year, and so far I'm up to around 40. I see you read The Myth of You and Me - I read that too, this year, and it's one of my favs so far. I also want to read The House at Riverton!

I read The Beach House, too, and really enjoyed it!

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 44. Moon Shell Beach A Novel

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 45. Barefoot A Novel
Another book set on Nantucket that I really enjoyed.

message 14: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 46. The Sunday List of Dreams
This book was a disappointment. I thought I was going to enjoy it at first, but then it seemed to be repetitive. I was generous when I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments JUNE
47. The House on Tradd Street by Karen White This was a fun book; a mystery combined with a little romance.

message 16: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 48. Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs This was a great story filled with hope, love and family!

49. Woodswoman I Living Alone in the Adirondack Wilderness by Anne LaBastille The author of this book is just an inspiration! The book is a little dated in places but still great. I gave this book a 5 not because of the writing but because of this woman's great achievements. Doesn't a cabin in the middle of the woods sound great sometimes?

message 17: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 50. Still Life with Chickens Starting Over in a House By the Sea by Catherine Goldhammer This was just a fun little book! I gave it a 4 because it made me laugh; perfect for my mood!

message 18: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 51. The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand Good book, a bit fluffy in parts but good. Another book set in Nantucket! Learned a lot about the restaurant business.

message 19: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Thanks Brenda!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* You are amazing! whoohoo.

message 21: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Thanks Shelby! Not amazing-just seems like I'm pretty boring lately-love to read! Sometimes it seems I should be doing something more productive, but getting lost in books is too fun!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* I'm that way too. This morning I was reading and kept thinking about things that needed done. Yep didn't happen. Hey we are expanding our minds. Very important work.

message 23: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Yea that's the same thing I do! Anymore it's like I'm either reading, on Goodreads, Twitter or PBS. It's all about the books and expanding our minds! I love that!

Did you like The Love Season? I've got all of those on my TBR list, since I really liked Barefoot.

message 31: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Since you liked Barefoot, I know you'd like this one too! It would be a toss up for me which one I enjoyed more.

message 32: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 56. More Than You Know A Novel by Beth Gutcheon This book was great; not what I was expecting but really good!
57. House of Spirits and Whispers The True Story of a Haunted House by Annie Wilder Little too over the top for me!
58. Little Chapel on the River A Pub, a Town and the Search for What Matters Most by Gwendolyn Bounds Another great book!

JULY
60. Low Country by Anne Rivers Siddons Listened to this book on tape. It was good!

61. The Lost City of Z A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann This was a great book and made me want to find out more about the exploration of the Amazon!

62. Time Is a River by Mary Alice Monroe Another great read!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* LOL Cindy, I saw that Jude Deveraux book and was thinking hmm I haven't read that one. Til I saw you gave it one star. :) I used to like her books but it has been awhile since I've read one.

message 38: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Yea, I probably would have liked it a lot more when I was a teenager!

message 39: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 63. Serendipity A Novel by Louise Shaffer
I enjoyed this book and a glimpse at the life of theatrical royalty!

message 40: by Brandie (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 64. The Saddlemaker's Wife by Earlene Fowler

65. The Color of Light by Karen White

Enjoyed both of these books.

I would definitely recommend The Lost Hours by Karen White! The Color of Light actually made a reference at the end about another location in one of her books The House on Tradd Street which was good too.

message 43: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 66. The Geometry of Sisters by Luanne Rice This one was good!

message 44: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 67. Fool Me Once by Fern Michaels I thought this was a fun read especially for dog lovers!

message 45: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) I never read Fern Michaels before. My mom just bought one of her books. How is her writing style?

message 46: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Not sure I've read any other book by Fern Michaels. The little dogs on the front made me buy this one! This was a bit of romance mixed with a little mystery. From the comments about this book, some people didn't enjoy it at all. I thought it was an easy style; nothing too mind provoking, probably what I would classify as fluff! But I thought it was entertaining, funny and well-written.....

message 47: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Maybe I will pick up her book when I go to my parents and test her out. Thanks Cindy. =)

message 48: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments 68. Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay Andrews

message 49: by Cyndi (new)

Cyndi (chill77) Cin, how do you like Mary Kay Andrews? Mich was so sweet and sent me a couple, but I haven't read them yet. I want to say Savannah Breeze was one she sent.

message 50: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments I liked Savannah Blues better than the second; Savannah Breeze. But they were both just fun reads. I have Hissy Fit too, I got from the library but not sure...maybe I need to read a little heavier book next!
