She wrote the first book with a trilogy in mind. I think the tour and movie have slowed the writing down. Good things come to those who wait. And wait. And wait.
I would be very happy if we got a sequel but if we don't get one then I'm fine with that too. I really do want more Wandian though...
Is she actually writing a sequel? or are there rumors? i haven't heard anything.. This is one of my favorite books but what could happen in the sequel? It seems unneeded as everything was resolved in the first one
I disagree with Erin above me a sequel would be amazing I want to see more of Ian and Wanda j also want to meet the rest of the groups of humans that are still living :)
Wandahost wrote: "I'm think there is no need for a sequel, because it ended in good terms and if there is a sequel something has to go wrong (like fav characters dying or splitting). So, I don't want to read that."
THATS SO TRUE.but i really want a sequel
THATS SO TRUE.but i really want a sequel
In the movie and book she kinda left a cliffhanger so i'm hoping she will do a sequel because i want more info on Wanda and Ian and Melanie and Jared... there's sooo much more she could do
I actually enjoyed the fact that this was just one book. Nowadays almost every Young Adult book is made into a trilogy, and I just love when a story ends on the last page. No cliffhangers, no waiting for a next book! I will probably read the sequel if there ever is to come one, but I'm also satisfied with the ending now. Like someone said before, what would happen in the sequel? Our beloved main characters might not make it through the entire book!

Dare i say, the heroes of olympu..."
I agree. I almost cried when she gave herself up for Melanie, and then it was a letdown when she woke up again. But as SM did plan to make this a trilogy, it would have been weird if Wanda had died!
When the host first came out she talked about how in would be a trilogy. now its years later and nothing...no word on it...at all...i think shes hoping we forgot. This is why i made my never-coming-out shelve on here. Also on that shelve is Strange Fate (Night World, #10) by L.J. Smith.I'm in favorite of a squeal but at the same time I'm worry if she does it. The first book itself is good enough to stand on its own. And the fourth book of twilight is what killed it for me. Bella got everything in the end, it felt to fan-service.
*I mean she got the guy
*married the guy
*became a vampire
*still had a baby (with a stupid name)
*the best friend is imprinted on the baby
*which is why he still gets to be in her life and *doesnt hate her
*she gets to keep her father in her life
*she has great control of her blood-lust right away
*she has a really strong power after being changed
*they didn't go to war (which leads to another thing I hated, if didn't fell like all that tension she brought it this because of an up coming war never got taken care of)
I don't want her to do that to host
Aye! But I seriously doubt that she's going to write sequels for anything because she's not one for writing under pressure apparently. I think she's going to enjoy the fame and money for a good long while until she fades into obscurity and not getting enough attention then she's magically going to make a miraculous comeback saying: Ha! I've been writing all along and didn't want to tell anyone! Suckers! Then she'll release a lot at once sit back and make even more money.
I would love to read the sequel of this book, but I am pretty happy with just one book as well. Since Meyer has not written one in 6 years, I am pretty sure she might not write one.

I've been eagerly awaiting the day these two sequels are released!!! I have loved the host as one of my favorite books ever, and I don't doubt she will write amazing books. The trouble is, she doesn't seem to want to do any writing, just make movies. I think it's not her strength, but she is an amazing author. I haven't enjoyed any of her movies, and wish she'd focus on what her fans wante-books!!
I really don't think this book needs a sequel. Yes, it ended on a potentially worthy-of-a-sequel note, but I think it's better without. Anything Meyer attempts to sequel this with will be horrible and bland in comparison. She should just leave it be, in my opinion. (Not because she's a terrible writer, but because she has something good and she should just leave it be.)

Although I'm somewhat scared of it being a disappointment, I just love the characters (mostly Ian), and I want to see more of them! :) I don't think Stephanie Meyer would disappoint me, I hope!"Aye, but I swear if she kills Ian I will curl up in a ball and die. I would really like a sequel but I'm also kind of nervous about where she will take it and if it will be an good. The Host is m favorite book so I would absolutely adore a good, well written sequel that DOESN'T brake my heart and murder my soul (no pun intended) :)
Yes please. Honestly, im really looking foward to see Jared, Ian, Mel and Wanda back on screen. The scene where Mel and Wanda say goodbye to each other makes me cry everytime. Hopefully SM doent pull a Twilight on us bcz lets face its ending was wack.
I!!!! of course i would like to know more about their life, ohh if jaime finds a new love that would be cute!
AYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read somewhere that she said in an interview that she is currently working on a sequel. I am so excited for this if it is true! The ending left so much room for a sequel and I couldn't handle not knowing what would happen next. Now that she has confirmed it I can't wait to see where this story goes.
I enjoyed the story as it was written. i would read a sequel if she publishes one but i'm hoping she chooses not to. The movie was horrible!!!
I NEED THAT SEQUEL! I dont care how people say how horrible meyer is, i love all her books! the twilight movies might have ruined the series a little, but i love every word coming from her!!
I'd love to see the outcome of their struggle to regain life as full humans on earth. The ending was such a cliffhanger that there has gotta be a sequel. So after all of that said...lol I say I...
I think i heard Sephenie was going to write a book called The Seeker, and if im not wrong, The Soul, but ive been waiting for it and it hasnt comed out yet.
I would love a sequel to this book. I would read it and judge for myself. The movie was not as good as I hoped it would be but the book was great. In my opinion books are always better than movie.
Kristina wrote:I don't think she will end up writing another book though. Also as a person and an author, Meyers isn't exactly reliable. Also in a recent interview she stated that if she were to write anyth..." Do go on... :)
As for a sequel, if she wrote one, I'd read it. I personally think she's reliable. I love her writing style.
I hate to be a spoil sport, but I didn't see the need for a sequel. I liked the book a lot. Stephenie Meyer is a master at some of the story telling techniques that I like to read—her characters have depth and texture to them, even the ones that are deliberately written in an formal way. But—for me—I think we saw where The Host was going and I'd rather let my imagination take her characters where they are going, and would like to see her write new stories.
Well i think that she could add one if she wanted because even tho the story doesnt exactly end in a cliffhanger it doesnt completely end the story i wouldnt be too disapointed if she didnt write another book but if she did i would definetly read it.. :)
No sequel. I dont want the story to suck and then I hate her again. I already dont like her much after what she let them do to the movie for this book.

I didn't see the movie for the host, but tried watching the twilight series—I stopped after the second one. The key for many books is: don't watch the movies. With a few exceptions, the movies have been a big disappointment. one good example of an exception to the rule: To Kill a Mockingbird (which I liked a lot)
On this author: I'm not sure how much actual control an author has on films, but she seemed to be pretty enthused about movies in general. Hopefully she hasn't given up on writing.

soooo true
NAY!!! I like the Host as it is. Although there is the glimmer of hope at finding more groups of humans, and that would be something interesting to expand on, i think that that small piece of hope is enough for any reader. I mean, twilight -although it is sappy and cheesy- would have made an excellent stand alone book, and we all know how that seemed to spiral out of control lol.No, I think the Host should stay as is :)
