Missing books

I just became a Librarian and I am not clear on how to add missing books?

Before you actually add the book you should make sure that it's not already in the system. Sometimes you have to search for the title instead of author name or ISBN instead of author. I've had to do that at least.
I'll let someone else give you a more concise answer on how to add. I'll make it long and drawn out when it doesn't need to be!
