Shawn Beaton | 2 comments My name is Shawn Beaton. I'm from Canada and starting a new career as a Christian writer. I find it hard to make any sales or get reviews with all the competition. Any help on getting reviews would be appreciated. I'm a charismatic Christian. I hope I won't be hated for that. I've done some preaching and teaching in the past. Now I'm doing it through books. My author page is here https://www.amazon.com/Shawn-Beaton/e...

message 362: by Donna (new)

Donna (donnadarling) | 7 comments Hi! I'm Donna! I'm a 19-year-old Evangelical Christian and homeschool graduate who has been writing fanfiction since I was 12. Between the time I was 17 and 19 I went through a slump where I didn't write anything much because I felt like the whole world was expecting me to write a certain way, and I felt the pressure crushing me. Now I'm just trying to write the things I love for Jesus. :)
It may take awhile before I'm at the level I was before, but I'm trying to commit to writing again; and this time with a serious goal in mind.

I love history, fantasy, and paranormal themes of life, death, and resurrection. Expect my writing to overflow with tales of vampires, ghosts, and angels.
My main project at the moment is called "Mortality"; a Gaslamp Fantasy about a Catholic boy who finds himself hired as the Grim Reaper's assistant. The theme of the story is the value of human life in the sight of God.
It may take me years to complete, though, so in the meantime I'll be working on other stories--both Christian and secular--to regain my confidence and (hopefully) my skill.

Thank you! :D
I'm gonna do my best and pray it turns out as well as it sounds. XD;

I don't have a personal blog at the moment; but I do have a DevientArt page where I keep the internet posted on my progress. I'm taking a break from DA at the moment, but I'll be back eventually:

message 368: by Maria (new)

Maria . | 5 comments Hello there!
My name is Maria and I am a homeschooled 12-year-old. Things you should know about me: I'm shy. (It takes me a while to open up to people.) I love reading, writing, and baking. I'm on DeviantArt and DIY. DA profile link: http://shimmeryfawn.deviantart.com/ DIY profile link: https://diy.org/firefawn/posts
Here's the blurb (or, what is written on the inside of the cover) for my WIP:
A divided world where nothing is as it appears. Epic battles and warring sides at every turn. And the one girl who could change everything.
Peace once ruled triumphant over Clarrain, where citizens of all nations sought refuge from the war-torn Earth. But for Leyla Collins, it never ruled triumphant in her heart. Separated from her father for a reason she will never know, the fourteen-year-old struggles with her bitter resentment for her father and her inner battle. That’s why it doesn’t come as much a shock to Leyla when her own father becomes the autocrat of the Space Nation through brute force. Whole neighborhoods are decimated and cities crumble-including Leyla’s home city. But the biggest shock of all is when her own father summons Leyla to him. He wants Leyla to serve as a spy- to infiltrate the ever-growing resistance. At first, Leyla doesn’t resist or struggle against her father’s wishes as she betrays the resistance every night, transmitting information back to her father’s tower. But when Leyla finally realizes just what her father is planning to do to all of Clarrain, she knows she must stop him. Can, with the aid of new friends and alliances, a mere fourteen-year-old thwart a tyrant? Or will the ruthless dictator Derek win out?

I am looking for beta-readers, so please contact me if you can do it! Thanks!
Thanks for reading this everybody! Bye!

Ritchie Valentine Smith (ritchievalentinesmith) | 8 comments Hello again, my friends! I’m Ritchie Valentine Smith, latest book ’Words of Fury’ and I’ve been invited to do an AMA – an ‘Ask Me Anything’ – on December 19th, with the wonderful people at Reddit. Reddit.com is a rich and varied site; do take a look, and ask something during my AMA. (For example, ask what happened to your author when he was in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the year Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait...)
The general link to the Reddit Fantasy Community is this – www.reddit.com/r/fantasy – and you can find AMAs from Joe Abercrombie, George R. R., Brandon Sanderson, etc. If you want to participate in my AMA or another, there’s a ‘how to...’ guide at www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/wiki/rfantas... which covers the basics.
‘Words of Power’ is the name of the series as well as the first book, and it starts in a version of samurai Japan, as the steam-powered Empire of Albion arrives, but it will continue to Europe, to India and China, and eventually to the Holy Land. It has swords and magic, so it must be fantasy; but it is also brutally realistic in terms of the human character. (I also want to say that the books are ultimately about the power of light, though. You will all know what I mean.)
So, what’s ‘magic’ to me and in my story? It is the power that comes from belief – belief in a higher power, belief in yourself. If you believe in yourself, you can sometimes do miracles...
Your author hopes some of you, at least, will look in on December 19th. I should be there in the previous evening, and also from about 6 p.m. Central Time. There’s more information about the books on my Website, www.ritchievalentinesmith.com – do take a look, and then Please Ask Me Anything.

AT Demeter | 1 comments Howdy! I'm Ashie Wilkerson and a writer like a whole lot of you. Of course, I haven't gotten anything published yet but it's still my dream. I'd love to be part of this group. As of now, I'm currently working on just a few stories, all of them with Christian truths subtly or plainly woven as part of the narrative, ranging from the genres of historical fiction to science fiction.
