E. Writes (elizabethkaiser) | 32 comments Hey everyone!
Wow! So many people here I already know! :-) I'm so used to joining groups that are full of total strangers, this is a first! :-)
Glad to see you all!
I'm Elizabeth; or E. Kaiser Writes as my author name goes. (For disambiguation purposes!)

I've been writing seriously a little over 15 years now, have released the first two books in the Five Gems series, (the closest comparison would be "Little House on the Prairie" mixed with Tolkien's works. JRR is a major inspiration for me!!!)
I am currently very excited, (make that super-super excited!) to be gearing up to release the first 3 (possibly 4) books in my new series of complex fairytale retellings in a quasi-Victorian fairytale world. (With lots of historical-type stuff in it, so it feels like it could be our real world, but it's not... It's so much lots more fun!!! :-) )
This THAW: series derailed my previous series, (but not forever, I'm putting story to paper as fast as I can) and it starts with the "Winter Child" novella and "Winter Queen" novel: a combination of Germany's "the Snow Child", Russia's "Snegurken", and the Anderson tale "The Snow Queen". Rolling these all together seemed absolutely obvious, and from there the characters have galloped away with the tales.
They've been so much fun to write, and I'm really excited about launching them all together in January 2015.
(P.S. If you have a book-ish blog and think this sounds interesting, I should be thinking about assembling blog-hop participants for the January release. :-) )

And I also do art and illustration, which has been a lot of fun; helping other author's words come to life. I look forward to doing more of that in future, and am on D. Art here: http://elizabethkwritesart.deviantart...

Glad to be part of the group, and hi to all here!!!! Welcome to newcomers!

And I should go write... *Sneaks guiltily away*
Elizabeth

Sierra | 78 comments Hi, I'm Sierra. I write a lot for fun, but I have a hard time finishing. I'm in the middle of a couple of stories that I think might actually get done in the near-ish future...
I mostly write fantasy, at least in the sense that nothing like it would ever happen in my life. And most of my stories have dragons or happen in different worlds.
And, um, I think that's it : )
(Thank you Lena for inviting me! :)

I'm a Christian homeschool graduate and I've written two sci-fi-ish adventure stories, one with more fantasy-like elements, but now I'm working on a big fantasy project. I like mixing genres. I love C. S. Lewis and Molly Evangeline/Jaye L. Knight among other authors. Thanks to Kendra for inviting me!

Daniel Adorno (danieladorno) | 96 comments Hi Tamara! Welcome aboard! Just a word of encouragement: every writer thinks their writing is no good. It's kind of the price of admission that we are overly critical of our literary abilities, but the best way to become more confident is to continue writing. Practice makes perfect as they say. I hope you'll share your work in the excerpts and again, welcome! :)

Mojoboy31 | 83 comments Hey, everybody. How is it goin'? Name's mojo, I've been writing for a few years, learned a lot, still have a lot more to learn. I found this group by searching for it. I've been looking for a group of Christian writers since the message boards that I used to frequent have all kind of died.

Anyway, I'm something of a novice with good ideas and bad grammar. lol

message 87: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneypaigemccutcheon) | 38 comments Hey Everyone,

I am a Christian and a writer. Lena invited me to join the group, thanks Lena!
I recently self-published my first book and am very excited! I like different genres but mainly stick with YA of some sort. I like historical fiction, dystopia (as long as it isn't an exact replica of Hunger Games, Divergent, Matched - I like those books but don't want a repeat). Hmmmm what else? I like all things superhero, especially Smallville, one of my favorite shows!
I like action movies, Pride and Prejudice, 90s movies.
And I love rainy days.

Most of all, I wouldn't be here writing today, or here at all, if it wasn't for Jesus Christ and my heavenly Father God. Despite my worst days, they never leave me, though others have. Thank You Jesus!

Sydney

YA dystopic. Nice! I have a YA dystopia that is currently in the works.

message 90: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 114 comments I'm working on a superhero boarding school dystopia. It's weird, because most of my books and WIP's are fantasy, or sci-fi with strong fantasy elements, but then I have this rogue superhero boarding school dystopia that won't let me ignore it ...

That sounds pretty epic.

Sydney (sydneypaigemccutcheon) | 38 comments Hi! I am good, thanks.

Yep superheros plus dystopia is probably something I would pick up in a store.

And yes, Smallville is awesome!

message 93: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Kazmierczak | 8 comments Hi, my name is Margaret Kazmierczak and I have recently had my first book published in the UK.

The Uk is not as big a fan as the USA of Christian Fiction so getting my book published was an act of faith and trust. The big companies, although they liked my book, felt it was not in a genre they could sell well in! However I received many confirmations (after praying) that the book needed to be published. And so it was in September this year by a small company local to me.

The hard part now is the publicizing of it. I am not very good at marketing so this has been a challenge.

The book itself was written during a time of ill health for me and so its inspiration was totally dependent on God. I know that the words and message are powerful as He was in the driving seat and I only the hands typing what He brought to my mind.

I am a housewife with years of experience from the real world. In terms of the world I am not very significant, but in God's eyes I am wonderfully made and I praise Him for using me to share His message through the book. It is called 'How to make Victoria Sponge'.

I hope you will check out the reviews. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Victoria...

message 98: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 318 comments Hi, Sydney. Have you read The Giver? It's a super awesome dystopian that predates all the modern popular ones. It's a Newbery and it came out in the early 90s. (The reviews of Matched do say it's a ripoff of The Giver, though, but I haven't read Matched, so I don't know firsthand.)

message 99: by Sydney (new)

Sydney (sydneypaigemccutcheon) | 38 comments Hi Morgan! (thanks for the welcome Daniel!)

Yes I have read it - and I really liked it! I've read the other four as well. (Jonas is great!) - Have you read the fourth book of The Giver series? What'd you think?
For the book Matched I think all dystopia's have some forms of similar but Matched has more of a love story, and my fav, poetry. I really enjoyed the writing of it as well, I could connect with character even though we were different. And I would recommend for someone to read, try it see if you like it kinda of thing, sometimes that's the only way. It may not be completely fast-paced but it kept my interest.

Hmmm..... I can't think of any other books to recommend at this moment haha.
