Well....I didn't just read it, but
Karavans is Jennifer Roberson's newest series. I'm about to start her third book in this. A word of warning though, she is still writing the fourth.
I would say it won't be too long, before it is done. Never can tell. She is also involved in another series.

I keep re-reading Jane Fancher's "Rings" series - Ring of Lightning, Ring of Intrigue, Ring of Destiny. Really good story and fascinating characters

I'm about half way through Range of Ghosts by Elizabeth Bear and am really enjoying it. I'd also mention Miserere: An Autumn Tale by Teresa Frohock. But then I see that this was posted 36 hours ago, so I assume it's moot at this point ...
