In a world ravaged by mutation, a teenage girl must travel into the forbidden Savage Zone to recover lost artifacts or her father’s life is forfeit.

America has been ravaged by a war that has left the eastern half of the country riddled with mutation. Many of the people there exhibit varying degrees of animal traits. Even the plantlife has gone feral.

Crossing from west to east is supposed to be forbidden, but sometimes it’s necessary. Some enter the Savage Zone to provide humanitarian relief. Sixteen-year-old Lane’s father goes there to retrieve lost artifacts—he is a Fetch. It’s a dangerous life, but rewarding—until he’s caught.

Desperate to save her father, Lane agrees to complete his latest job. That means leaving behind her life of comfort and risking life and limb—and her very DNA—in the Savage Zone. But she’s not alone. In order to complete her objective, Lane strikes a deal with handsome, roguish Rafe. In exchange for his help as a guide, Lane is supposed to sneak him back west. But though Rafe doesn’t exhibit any signs of “manimal” mutation, he’s hardly civilized . . . and he may not be trustworthy.

My last two books have been poo, the one I'm sort-of reading at the moment is poo, I hope this trend isn't going to continue cause it's putting me in a bad mood! Think I'll switch to this one in a bit.

I know what you mean!
Both "Hidden wings" and "In your dreams" were awful.
I just DNF "Threads of chaos" as well.
There was a few creepy scenes at the beginning, so i was hopeful.. But then they sort of disappeared, and the story went reallyyy slow.

I'm reading Stay With Me (With Me #1) by Elyssa Patrick which seemed to have stolen a scene from Notting Hill, and now is just boring me.

Abbie | 27856 comments Mod
Starting now. :)

Abbie | 27856 comments Mod
The beginning (of the whole thing) made my eyes hurt.
Those lines were horrible.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
I'm just grabbing something to eat and then starting. Just finished my third bad book in a row :(

I was thinking that too.. I was like "Wait.. you're not serious are you?"
It's hard to know if stuff like that is actually true, when it's a dystopia!

I know, the way she said it, I was thinking is she serious?
I just got to the Ew moment. It very nearly put me off my chocolate.

Every time somebody says their name, and it's after a place, i keep thinking of what people would be called if they lived in Birmingham.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
that's funny!

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
I'm surprised that that top was still white after crawling through all that muck anyway. It wouldn't have been exactly clean in there what with all the dead bodies etc.

Maybe Anna used Ariel washing powder? It's supposed to stop dirt from sticking. Lol!

I kinda like the little story that her dad used to tell her, but shouldn't she have guessed before now that it might be true as there was a wall, and a river, and a forest etc... just like where she actually lived?

Abbie | 27856 comments Mod
Yeah, i found it quite good how her dad told her stories that could actually help her in that situation.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
so after everything that she learned about her father's stories being real, she thought that he'd made up the chimpacambra whatever's?

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
this is going to sound nuts, but this kinda reminds me of the wizard of oz. It must be those monkey things reminding me of the wicked witch's flying monkeys, and the mutants reminding me of the lion man or something. I wonder if the road is yellow?

I see what you mean now. at 42% and I'm pretty bored.

Haha, it does actually! Also, with that one that's a tiger, wanting hearts?
I know it was the tin man that wanted hearts, but still.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 83315 comments Mod
Glad it's not just me. I was reading it and thinking 'am i nuts?'
