Hello!! I've been in this group for a while now but never introduced myself. My favorite books to read are horror and thriller stories. I'm constantly looking for new ones. The spookier, the better!

Hey there, name's Dave. Been a fan of horror for many years (it began with R.L. Stine) but never got into the genre as much as I would've liked. I like psychological and supernatural types of horror the most, and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is currently my favorite horror story. Poe and Mary Shelley are also right up my alley. And I began reading some cosmic horror for the first time (H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King) after playing Bloodborne earlier this year.

This group seems like just the place to help me get better acquainted with the horror genre, looking forward to getting involved here.

Hi, Abeer, you picked two good ones to convert you. Woman in Black is one of my favorites, Eel Marsh House is a perfect setting, and the story is so devastating! Since you seem to appreciate the classics of horror, have you read Shirley Jackson yet?

Hi everyone, I'm Preyash and I've recently started getting into horror. I like reading a variety of genres and I like reading short stories, plays, and speculative fiction. My favourite author is Shirley Jackson and the most terrifying book I've read recently was Dark Matter by Michelle Paver. I'm very open to suggestions and I'm excited to get to know everybody here.

Pale Shell: Book One: Part I

Hey Seb, I just stumbled upon this and thought I might offer my book I've just published. Its free until Friday. A horror tale, pretty intense and incredibly bleak. Otherwise, Hunted Past Reason comes to mind, by Richard Matheson. Its horror but leans heavily on survival action. All in all, hope you find what you're looking for.

Hi everyone. I’m Lili :) Last year I read an old anthology of speculative/genre fiction (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...) and now horror is most of what I’m interested in. I read along with the group for the first pick of this year, and I’m interested in many of the books that were picked previously, most notably Hurricane Season.

My name is Lena. I love getting lost in creepy stories and talking about haunted places, eerie plots, and great writing. I’ll stay active and contribute to the group regularly. Looking for horror books that are set in real cities with a strong atmosphere. I just read Victoria: City of the Lost Souls—it’s haunting, beautifully written, and based in Victoria, BC. Made me want to visit and never sleep again. Any other ghost stories set in real places you’d recommend?

Hi Lena, sadly I am unable to think of any reality-location based ghost stories (other than some M.R. James short stories), but welcome to the group anyway. Enjoy exploring the threads.

Having said, I can't think of any, if you like eerie, rather than out and out horror, then Annalisa Crawford bases her novels and short stories in the English West Country, especially Plymouth and Saltash. One Tuesday, Early is a really good example.
