Cms2004 | 8 comments What do you mean, what happened to my name? I'm confussed.

I am indeed a Red Sox fan in VA... I grew up in Boston (well, just outside). Only reason I live here is cuz that's where Uncle Sam decided to send us. I can honestly say I've never watched a Nationals game... I didn't even know they were a professional team until last year! We are planning on taking our son to a Norfolk Tides game in May when they're playing the Pawtucket Red Sox -- it's about as close to Fenway as I'm gonna get anytime soon. *sniff* And the Redskins? Puh-leeeze!

Anna Walls (annalwalls) Gabi wrote: "Whose money was being spent just then, Anna?"

Think optimistically, Gabi. Who earned it? yay Carol.

message 1369: by Anna (new)

Anna Walls (annalwalls) Don't you all know by now? Money grows on trees and vanishes into a black hole, and nary between the two shall it pause.

Corruption. It's not just in Afghanistan, thank you.

message 1371: by Anna (new)

Anna Walls (annalwalls) The entire health care issue is such a tangled web that runs much deeper than the government wants anyone else to know. Obama's health care issue is only going to add to it. I'd be all for it if he'd take that money and untangle the mess we already have.

message 1372: by Cms2004 (new)

Cms2004 | 8 comments I'm with Anna. The whole health care issue in America is in desperate need of reform -- that's REFORM, not "let's start something completely new that's astronomically expensive when we're already basically owned by China." Why not start with tort reform? Or try to fix medicare and welfare? I know some folks who are making too much money to qualify for medicare (or is it medicaid? I always get the two confused) but can't afford private HMOs. And also, I have government-run health insurance through the military and it sucks. You never see a doctor -- and if you do, it's never the same one twice -- and that's assuming you're able to get an appointment this century anyway. You have to basically plan to be at the clinic all day because of the wait. Seriously, last time I went I waited an hour to be seen, had a ten minute appointment (which I was basically rushed through) and then waited another two hours just to get one Rx filled. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have insurance at all, and the price is right... but you get what you pay for. I'm all for health care reform, I just don't know if "Obamacare" is the way to go. Oh, and if their plan is so great, why was it written into the bill that the President, Congress, and their families are all exempt from it?

I joined after reading about 2 threads because I was giggling so much. I need to laugh more.
Anyway. I am a proofreader for a free paper, I read advertisements and find lots of language funnies that I hope I can share here. I'm interested in language and grammar and keeping it alive and healthy, but in a not-so-serious kind of way =)
