the last part "After the invasion, they left no any equipment, knowledge or technology - nothing" reminds me of another wonderful Russian movie, Stalker.
We could hire the Magnificent Seven to defend us when the nasty aliens come to plague our village once more... Joking aside, that's basically the story. Invaders with superior technology appear, raise havoc and disappear again. In first millenia England we called them Vikings.

In my example aliens left nothing - only information they are really exists and they are our enemy.
Look, it's like terorists group. They are: exists, dangerous, strike us may be tomorrow, but may be in the next 10 years. And we are sure they will strike.
I think only two piece of info: aliens exists and aliens are hostile bring us to anti-utopian wolrld very fast. All people on the Earth. USA, China, Russia, EU... All. The Big Brother world.
Or - we must invent some crazy revolution things like Irom-man's suit (though it will be nouseful and even danerous), or teleport space ships or something. Or, indeed, we must hire the Magnificent Seven.
Georgy"Stalker" and "Roadside picknic" are similar to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and "Bladerunner" - movies use only setting from books, no more.
So there was nothing left from aliens in the "Stalker" (may be except Golden Ball?)
PS There is the third way - life will go as it went before this aliens, like "Stalker"
I think the governments of Earth would immediately set about debunking the whole invasion as a psychological warfare terrorist plot. There were no aliens. It was mass hysteria brought on by psychotropic bio-chemical attacks perpetrated by a made-up terrorist organization. Governments and the corporations that back/fund/control them would use this as an excuse to take total control of everything.After years of denial, show trials and show wars, disinformation and media-based propaganda, the world's population would totally buy into the "there was no invasion" lie and corporate-state rule of Earth would finally bring about one world government.
And we'd all live happily ever after...or so they tell us.

They left "zona" - place full of some misterous. Golden Ball include.
In "The Mediator" aliens catch up people bodies, replace numan mind by their mind. They do it by device named "mediator". It work like gun, but not kill body. By body it was human. And alien inside numan body can control memories of "carrier".
So for invasion in the first step they use numan's techincs and arms.
They can't catch children (and teens), lunatics and genious people.
The mediator work in both side: it can "seat" alien's mind into numan body and it can "evacuate" alien from body. The carrier did not hurt. They don't kill anybody - human's body is their resourse. And main target.
When the invasion failed, they have collected all mediators and fly away.
They need bodies badly, so they will sertanly return and try again.
Alien inside numan body is different from man by behaivor - they don't smile, don't smoke and drink (body is main resourse). And they very - VERY! - afraid of death. More then people. People can kill carrier - alien inside die, too.
So... After invasion they left nothing only knoledge they exisits and evil. And sertanly try again.
We can't connect with aliens for some discusions.
This is typical situation "We live surrounded by enemies" - conditions for the emergence of dictatorship. Aliens only differ in behavior so we need control numan behavior strongly. And etc, for full "The Big Brother" world.
(when all Earth will live by this rule, will be the right time for the second invasion :))

It was mass hysteria brought on by psychot..."Firstly we need the "the governments of Earth", whole Earth. I think it will be very difficult, may be mortally. Who will be the boss? Invasion was in Russia, and russian people and autorities successfully reflected it. USA most powerfull Earth country (look at USA's films - The President of USA is the main Man on the Earth by its, but we, in Russian, strongly disagree with it. I think all other world too), aliens (they are strongly rational) very possible will do next try in China (most people - most bodies for cathing up) - who will be the boss in World Goverment?
Probably the main will be those who have nuclear weapons...
The boss will be the World Corporate Consortium. All the various governments will still exist as puppets of the vast international corporate overlords. Normal people will think nothing has changed. Wars will still be fought between nations--contrived wars orchestrated to serve as income producers for the World Corporate Consotium.
But! what next? Can you imagine situation. We, human, know exactly that aliens exist. We know exactly that they are evil for as. We known exactly that we can't travel in the Far Space and we know that they can. We do not know where they. We do not know whether the new invasion attempt. Probably yes.
After the invasion, they left no any equipment, knowledge or technology - nothing. Their spaceship flew away with all set of mediators that they used.
So - what next for human?
