Bisky's Twitterling's Scribbles! discussion
Introductions!
@Susan i dont think you've been replying wrong. No worries. Good reads is one of the worst designed websites in the universe :p But its nice to have you all in one place :3 Welcome aboard and I hope you have a lovely weekend of writing :3
Hello all!I'm Ethan, and I'm currently working on a dystopia meets coming of age meets mystery story...basically, a weird mishmash of everything :) I dabble in all sorts of styles, mostly because I'm still trying to figure out what exactly works. Happy to be here!
@Teryn your book sounds really interesting you will have to keep us updated on it. Any idea when it will be finished?
Hi I'm Rhi, mostly I write poetry but I'm also working on a sci-fi novel called Displacement as well as a few other bits and bobs and a couple of children's stories.
Hello, I'm Johi (jo-hee)I write YA paranormal romances. I enjoy the romance part the most :)
Thanks Bisky for the invite!
Hey @johi! I'm also in Chicago-land and also write paranormal romance... (Of the teenage variety) we totally need to talk shop... Connect with me on twitter http://twitter.com/lafleurdeplume or Facebook http://Facebook.com/lafleurdeplume
or both!
Have a great day!!
Hello, I write short stories mostly, though I have two in revision that have ballooned into novellas. Maybe a novel is next.
Thanks for inviting me into this group. I'm really at the stage of just trying stuff. I've been lucky in that a short story I wrote is going to be included in an anthology. It's a Steampunk tale set in Bristol. The book is coming out in October, Airship Shape & Bristol Fashion.Other than that I've a story in progress that combines fantasy and steampunk. It's slow going at the moment.
I'm just trying to hang out with Writer types to make me feel guilty about not writing enough. Hoping the guilt motivates me!
Bisky wrote: "@charlotte I like the idea of the dragons focus. And thanks :D I had a big discussion with my friends about what to call it as none of them liked the original :3 Hope you find your inspiration here :3"I'm sure I will find inspiration here, Bisky! I've never seen such an active GoodReads group!
@Steve Congratz on getting a story published in an anthology! :3
The thing is to just not stop writing. Write down something every day, whether it's 1,500 words or a couple lines of notes. Keep the imagination going every day. :3

I never introduced myself in here. I'm Josh, and I'm working on a supernatural thriller (or horror--I'm not sure yet) called The Scarlet Ribbon. :3

@Steve, yeah, the guilt will work.I think I've written more in this past week than I have in the last two months...
But *spits tobacco* 'round these parts, we call it inspiration, not guilt

@Bisky Thank you x3
*cleans up the mess* Sorry I used to work in fast food. Even in restaurants if I see something on the floor, I pick it up. xD

I used to work tutoring english with kids who had ADHD :3 I'm quite the flying coloured pencil ninja :D
Nice! :3 I'm actually meeting with a lady from the student services department. They need someone to write notes for a special needs student in my biology class, so I'm hoping I get the job. I get to use one of those Light Scribe pens. @w@
You could probably dodge my whole 24 pack. xP But I don't want to throw them because they were kind of expensive. lol

My friend who lives in NC takes notes for a girl in her class :] She gets cash for it but she said it does get abit tedious after a while :p
*waves frantically* Hi all! Bisky thanks for inviting me here! I'm slowly editing an adult novel. I write poetry and short stories. Young adult is a favorite genre, but I'd like to expand my reading interests.
*Waves back in a bird-like fashion* Sounds awesome! I'm editing too! :3 It sucks -.-*
Welcome aboard :3
Welcome aboard :3
I would just like to say hello to everyone! Especially those who have recently posted! Nice to meet you all! )D
Hello everyone! I'm putting together a short story collection and I'm editing a work of non-fiction. I'm excited to see where it all goes.

@Loni Hello! That does sound exciting! Welcome aboard! :D
@Nadia. I understand that. I actually have a bone disorder where writing long hand can be very painful, but in england you just have to lump it. In my friends case, the girl isn't as appreciative as you might have thought.

That stinks. In both cases. I know that I'm very fortunate to have the opportunities that I do and I always remember to thank the ones who help me.
Most of the time I've had to make my own opportunities :] But thats ok. I just make sure I love the people who support me extra much :3
Hello everyone! I'm Sandy and I write fantasy and horror. I started writing in French a while ago and in English a few months back.
Two weeks ago, I self-published my first novel on amazon :D it's fantasy, in French, called "La Quête de l'Equilibre"
I am now writing a horror/thriller short story in English. I'm just a chapter away from finishing it. It's about a witch who's been imprisoned and wants revenge. I think I might self-publish it maybe by January.
And I'm considering translating my first novel, so that you can all tell me how awesome it is :P
Anyway, thanks for having me in the group! You can check me out on twitter or Facebook if you like.

Yay! :D I'm glad your considering translating it sandy I'm rubbish at learning new languages ;] So happy you joined :3 x
Bienvenue, Sandrine. You should definitely translate, but keep the name. There's something beautiful and mysterious about the French title.
Yes! I agree.
It made me think of John Preston (Equilibrium, second favourite movie ever) sitting in a muraled room eating croissants after he had just killed everyone :3
Sometimes I enjoy the original names of books than the translations.
For instance Män som hatar kvinnor (men who hate women), Girl with the Dragon tattoo. It doesnt work as well in english, but I feel it sounds more violent somehow when you say it in Swedish. Which fits the book better in my opinion :p

Just copy and paste :3

Ken: I think I might translate the title, but I'll definitely keep the French names of places and heroes.
Carl: I agree! But it's a double-edged fact, because it makes it difficult to be original. I had a bit of trouble with that when I started.

Sandrine why not have the title in English and French? So it would be: La Quête de l'Equilibre - Ghost, the quest for balance
April: why not? I'll keep that in mind. :)

LOL I like it!"
I know! I hate it too...
nothing quite takes the place of a pair of "additional expert eyes" editing, but does anyone know of any really good editing software out there for those starving authors? Lol?
