SOLVED/COMPLETED Author profiles with "A K" thru "A M" initial oddities, mostly just need periods added

Not a librarian - but, personal opinion on the ones missing bookcovers on goodreads is to look up on valid data sites only when name looks odder than just adding a period or removing excess spaces and punctuation marks would fix.
With any luck author profile on goodreads for weird seeming authors will either have a bookcover showing author name or searching on gr by the book title will find other editions on correct author profile.
I don't think you will be making the profile any more "wrong" than it currently is just by standardizing spacing and punctuation (plus easier to find if follows goodreads standards).

I certainly have been looking up any that look a bit "weird" where any book covers don't give a clue to what they should be. I have a bit of experience with foreign languages (English being my native language), so sometimes it's easy to notice the odd things going on.
It's certainly been interesting, seeing some of the things that are coming up. TBH, with all the work you're doing, I'm surprised you're not a librarian! :)
Anyway, have checked #174-9 and they appear to all be done. #202-4 also appear to have already been done. Have additionally done #207-8.

I was ( stopped when amazon bought goodreads) and these odd profiles were on my to do list as a librarian ( bogged myself own a bit with the Dr., Md., PhD ones in between Unknown Books and Authors). OCD about getting the lists done and a general post got no results so posting specific list items. *sigh* would be nice if a script could treat like a wordprocessor search/replace and replace "A. A." with "A.A." type of thing.

but I discovered that A. Liersch (Anne Liersch) and A. Liebling (Alison Liebling) have their full names listed on the covers of their respective books and WorldCat agrees with this, so I merged these profiles with the ones that have their full name.

#217 was mostly completed, but was something bizarre in there - A List Apart (Various) is an odd one, as it's basically, erm, a list! It's to do with this book, which I'm not sure should be on Goodreads - it's a webpage, not a book, but I've not come across this sort of thing before. So I've changed the author name to merge in with Various and have marked the "book" as "not a book" for now.
Have also done #219! :)

That's a lot of hard work for someone who's no longer a librarian! Well, it does need to be done at some point, by someone. But yeah - would be good if they eventually sort out a script for it. Hopefully Amazon will bring in more money to work on those sorts of things, but then where would the librarians go?

It's a tricky one, for sure. A List Apart seems to be an electronic periodical with an ISSN number. According to the librarian manual periodicals are considered books, but it doesn't say anything about electronic ones. A couple of people have it shelfed though, so I'd hesitate to get it removed just yet. It isn't unusual to have the publisher (in this case A List Apart) as the author, so in this case that might be a better option than Various?

Is that it for this section? Not sure if the above discussion ever gained closure or not...

That's it up to here, got thru A L's.
I don't know if the above discussions gained closure or not. If not, maybe needs posted out on a separate topic to ask super-librarian or staff opinion?

Found a couple of authors that needed merging; I posted about it in the appropriate thread.

I have posted a topic about it here. Hopefully, if we can get some closure on this, a note can be placed in the manuals for future reference.

I've noticed a lot of things like that, too, on other lists. But I've only been double checking with WorldCat and Amazon if they look particularly odd, otherwise it may take too long to do. Or would you suggest doing it for all of them?
