Tamara Shoemaker | 12 comments Deborah Heal is a fellow author and the contributor to this guest post on my blog. I found her article to be poignant to today's fiction, and I hope you enjoy the post as much as I did. Sexual purity in modern fiction is certainly pretty scarce these days, even infiltrating Christian fiction occasionally. I encourage you to check out her website and "like" her Facebook page, found at the bottom of the article.

Leanna Ellis Interesting blog post. I suppose I come at this from two angles, one as a Christian parent and CBA author and as an ABA author. Yes, I think a lot of teens might roll their eyes at a storyline with abstinence as the subject but then again they might learn something. I think it's all in how it's handled. Think about Twilight. It's about abstinence. And teens LOVED it. But abstinence isn't necessarily easy. So if the author shows the conflict and difficulties of such a decision, it might really speak to readers.

Tamara Shoemaker | 12 comments I agree, Leanna, I think it's all about how it's handled. I'm a huge fan of the Twilight series (yes, I'm 33, not 13 ;)), and the books were popping to mind the whole time I was reading this article. A hugely successful secular series with two virgins as the stars. Amazing! Granted, it wasn't so much about faith as the basis of their decision, but you could catch glimpses of something deeper, I think, through the threads of the story. :)
