what are some of the best romance books?

Outlander (book 1) is actually the book that got me reading. It is 700 odd pages but I read it in one sitting, didn't even get up to pee!!! I also think it's the reason I married a red head. No jokes, didn't ever think that would have been possible.
I haven't stopped reading since and have read countless books in search of another romance like that of Jamie and Claire, and I've only ever gotten there once. That was in the Fionavar Tapastry series by Guy Gavriel Kay (The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire & The Darkest Road). It's high fantasy though...

Klutz, check out this thread for a ton of suggestions http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Lots of sexual and romantic tension and I think they get steamy at the end of each book. Not erotica steamy - but steamy.
:-)
Ok, a very old author if all you want is romance is Georgette Heyer. She's been dead for at least 20 years, but I STILL love her stories. She specializes in Regency peroid romances, but her characters are fun and zany and are really enjoyable.

I have a few other recommendations.
The Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks. The first in that is How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire.
The Mackenzie Vampire series by Nina Bangs. The first in that is Master of Ecstasy.
Also by Nina Bangs; The Castle of Dark Dreams series. Wicked Nights is the first.
Uh, what else? Oh!
Rosemary Laurey's Vampire series is good, too. The first book is Kiss Me Forever, formerly known as, Walk in Moonlight. You'll have better luck finding the two-in-one edition with Kiss Me Forever and Love Me Forever.
I know of SO many other great books, but I don't want to overwhelm you. Enjoy and happy reading!

The Awakening
The Struggle
The Fury
Dark Reunion
They are also published with the first two books in one book and then the next two books in one book. Nightfall is the new one to be released this year.
I love Twilight, but these books really should get the credit Twilight got. For me, these were the beginning of the paranormal romance craze.

The Last of the Red-Hot Vampires
The Last of the Red-Hot Vampires
Ok, lists of books to read. Anything by Andre Norton--ok, she's not known as a PNR author, but still, I stand my by statement. Lynsay Sands "Argenieu Vampires" (Ok, not sure of the spelling of that, but the first book is Single White Vampire I believe. Sandra Hills Viking series that starts with The Last Viking. Also her Cajun series that starts with The Love Potion. Katie MacAlister's series (any of them) these last 3 series are all humourous.
Charlain Harris's Southern Vampire Series. First book in the series was Dead Until Dark.
Nina Bangs is another author that I like, but she seems to be one of those that you either love or hate. But I love her sense of humour, so that's why I keep reading her books.
One arthor that I find hit or miss is--Christine Feehan--the ones I liked of hers I REALLY liked, the ones I didn't like I HATED.
Some of our group love the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. They were some that I didn't like, and never got past about page 50 or so of the first book. Also Laurell K. Hamilton is another one. I LOVED her early works. But the later ones started turning into porn, so I pretty much quit reading her. I don't know about the more recent ones, so can't offer any guidance on them.
