Sydney seems nice and outgoing, but that's just because she tries to cover up her backstory (see history). People usually avoid her since she's a daughter of Hades, but once you get to know her, she isn't really dark and lonely, but she's actually a fun and nice person.

History:
Sydney got her middle name from Persephone, her dad's wife. It was hard for her mother to raise her in the sweltering heat of Miami, but they were fine. Until one day when she came back from school at the age of eight and saw that her home had been destructed by an unexpected flood. Only the homes near the shore had been destroyed and everyone came out safely, but she could not find her mom. Being a child of Hades, she could tell her mother was dead, and it was confirmed a few hours later when the investigation police came out with her mother's body and a sympathetic death statement.

Sydney was never quite the same after that. A week later, her father Hades came to see her under lots of risks, and he told her about the Greek gods and how they were real. Confused, Sydney had to find her way to Camp Half-Blood and since she couldn't really travel by air, Hades sent a satyr named Liam to help her reach safely. Sydney also carried a grudge against Poseidon since water was the cause of her mother's death, so they couldn't travel by sea either. After a while, they finally reached Camp Half-Blood, but since Sydney, being a child of the Big Three, had a strong scent, they were tailed by a group of monsters and her satyr guide Liam also perished. Devastated, Sydney made her way across camp's borders, ready to start a new life.

Personality:
Addie is really funny, as she gets that from both of her parents. She's always ready to comfort a friend and cheer them up or prank people. She's fun-loving and generally fun, but she's not too reckless. Addie's pretty clumsy but she's able to drive a monster insane with her horrible dad jokes and annoying puns—so much that they just vaporize in disgust.

History:
Addie didn't send up a flare to the monsters since her mom wasn't a major goddess. Her dad was a Comedy movie actor in Hollywood, but he never took on too many movies, so they went to watch movies and go to restaurants together. Addie was the Class Clown at school and her life was pretty normal and happy—until her mom made the god Apollo angry by not showing up to rehearsal on time, so Apollo killed her dad. For no apparent reason.

Zeus—of all gods—took pity on her and gave her a flight passage to Camp Half-Blood. She had to battle many monsters on the flight, but she made it through with a few bruises. When she arrived at Camp Half-Blood, she was taken to the infirmary to heal. Since then, she's been a happy all-rounder at camp.

However, one time, the god Hades struck a manipulative deal with her. He promised to give her dad back to her, but it was a huge trap and a traumatic experience for her. She went to the Underworld to get her dad back, and Hades tortured her, thinking it was unfair that Zeus helped her the year before in getting to Camp Half-Blood. Addie tries to hide it from people with her humor, but all of that grief and trauma is still rooted in her. Now, the bonds between her and the god of the Underworld have mended, but she's still a bit angry when someone mentions his name—though she gets along well with children of Hades.
