cool thanks....well..it's a psychological thriller..but Virginia Wolff and Sylvia Plath poetry are used throughout..and A Room of One's Own is referred to repeatedly.

Ruth (ruthie1) Question?
March Geraldine Brooks...September 11, 2013 Take off of a classic...does this count?

message 62: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16593 comments Mod
Sorry Ruth I only just saw your question (these notifications don't always work!!)

Yes, I think March is fine, as would be something like Longbourne. As these are "side works" of the original books, and therefore is a book about a book :)

Ruth (ruthie1) Thanks!!!

I tried to listen to the audiobook and baled in the second chapter. I found it incredibly boring. I guess I'll get back to it at some point. What did you think of Lost in a Good Book?

message 66: by Renee (last edited May 08, 2014 05:01PM) (new)

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments It was reading a book about a book club that motivated me to come searching for a book club myself, and here I am. Thank you Lorna Landvik for writing Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons. I might try a booked challenge and work through some of the back log on my ereader.

Welcome Renee!

Midu - I loved The Eyre Affair, I found Lost in a Good Book pretty good, but book 3 (The Well of Lost Plots ) I just couldn't get into. I don't know why. Maybe it was just my mood at the time. But I still really enjoy Jasper Fforde

Welcome to the challenge, Awesomevegan!

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 34 comments Oh I thought of another series!

Chris Colfer's The Wishing Spell and The Enchantress Returns

The series involves siblings that fall into a fairy tale book and meet characters from the stories. It is very much a book about a book! (I have read the first book but not the second yet)

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Thanks Karen and Lisa Kay. :) I'm having a har time getting to a computer while my laptop is being repair so I use either my Nook or my Ipod touch but you can't update on them so while it's being repair I try to get on anyone one of my friends or son's computer. LOL

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Hope it is repaired soon, Carmen, and not to expensive.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments The good thing is that it's not going to cost me anything because I just bought it in May and the with the warranty still in effect and I also purchased an extra 3 years so I'm good. I just don't know what happen. It as on one minute and then it wouldn't come back on again. So now I have to wait until Feb 7th

It was Good. Not GREAT but not awful, just good. It was lacking something with me, I think I never really fully connected with the characters or something but it wasn't awful.

I wish I had listened to the first one too. The audio of the 2nd is almost perfect. It's read by Brendan who I love, BUT he reads it soooooooooooo and I mean soooooooooooooooo freakin slow, it's like a dreamlike quality to his voice. I actually got an app to speed him up and at 1.50 (versus 1.00) he's actually at a normal, or a little fast sometimes, speed. Other than that, listening to it has been good, as it does take a long time to get through and since I didn't love it, it can be my nighttime ear music while I still spend my days reading great new reads. :)

message 92: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16593 comments Mod
Thanks - good to know. It might be an audio for me too then. I didn't actually realise there was an app for that (I guess I should've - there's an app for everything! lol) because I find the 2x speed on the iphone is just tooooo fast. I'll have to check it out ;)

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments Karen wrote: "Nice one Renee. Do you have a favourite out of those you read?"

The Fault in Our Stars would be the stand out in the ones I read. It had me emotionally involved, and I might have even cried...

What I got was from Google Play and is called Audipo. You can step up the speed of it a point at a time so you can choose where you want it to be. Really works well.
