Here are the guidelines. It is CRUCIAL that you pay attention to these guidelines so that you don't get yourself or your team disqualified.. Please read before signing up.
Basic things to know. 1)All debates of this sort run Monday-Friday. Your debate will be in a thread under your name(s) and the name(s) of your competition.
2)You must sign up BEFORE competing.
3)Every 1-2 months, there will be a "tournament," where our very best debaters will compete in special 2-3 day debates in the style of the different NFL debate events.
Sign up the week before. You cannot sign-up on Monday morning and expect to have a topic made for you. This will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. If we have an odd number of individuals or teams, the last person/team to sign up will not be able to debate that week but will be at the top of the debate list for the next week.
You MUST be committed to the debate. Research the topic if needed and then comment, comment, comment. The winner(s) will be declared based on the MOST convincing and in-depth argument. Leaving the opposing team/individual hanging IS NOT FAIR.
NO swearing. Whatsoever. At all. Period. I don't mind as much on the other debates, but you are expected to be PROFESSIONAL here. SWEARING CAN AND WILL GET YOU DISQUALIFIED, no warnings.
Regarding tournaments. If you are elected to a tournament, I will notify you (and your partner if you compete as a team) of your event. The "speaking" orders for each event (Policy, Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas) can be found here. Obviously, time limits cannot be honored, but the order will be honored and dictated by the mod in charge of the event (wait for the mod's permission to "speak.") Please read about the debate styles and rules via the following links: Lincoln-Douglas here, Public Forum here, and Policy here. National Forensic League rules will be followed.
If I update the guidelines, I will notify you. If, at any time during a debate, you feel that your competition has broken a rule, PM me with the problem and an explanation. I will get back to you ASAP.
