I'm not overly fond of romances, and I've never anything done solely romance before, so I'm not sure how I'd do. I have a bit of a dark imagination though, and I like the supernatural as well. I'd be willing to do something with a big plot that also has a romance, though!

I also like The Hunger Games, Divergent, Legend, The Casual Vacancy, The Homelanders, Crazy Dangerous....I read a lot of dystopian and apocalyptic stuff.

'Sokay, though I would definitely recommend them all! The Seven Realms I think you should like, it has a great romance line. Gone is awesome too, IMO, but I can see how a lot of people may not like it. It's rather violent and has graphic detail, so if you're squeamish, don't read it.

I was going for a forbidden sort of feel where the rich and poor would be against one another so when our characters fall for each other, it's really, well, bad.

haha, I get like that too! :D I saw you were reading Slammed and I was thinking about reading that pretty soon! So you know, we could fangirl together about that cx Yeah so maybe there's something about the poor. Like they're something...I know I'm not explaining this right. They could be something that disgusts the rich so they had the poor separated into an area where only the poor reside. There could be guards that reframe the poor from going anywhere near the rich side of the world. There could be a penalty of death or whatever. But the rich can enter the poor side although it's uncommon because, you know, 'ew the poor ones,' the rich would say.

Ooooh, haha! I keep getting distracted by other books. See, I'm a huge romantic and I found out romance doesn't come into play until the next book so I'm trying to get through it. I heard it's worth it in the end for romantics like myself~ Although, -_- people and the internet ruined the plot twist for me. Yeah, like a defective!
That idea is so pretty. So maybe the rich have this weird light ability while the poor don't have it. They could have lost the ability over time for some reason. The rich no longer believe they have anything to offer and are afraid of what might happen if they interact with the darkness that is the poor so they keep them separate.

you've made me too curious now so I looked it up c: I think I'll certainly put the series on my to read list. I had an idea for the world they live in: The richest of the rich, the absolute elite, the leaders, the ones who move in the highest social circles (you get the idea), each have a certain unique ability. It's documented by the government and carefully regulated, and most of the time these abilities are harmless, subtle, aimed at superficial things such as beauty, etc. The poor do not have special abilities, in general. However, every now and then, someone poor is discovered to have this ability, and whenever someone like this is found among the poor, their power is unlike the rich; their ability is raw power, dark and dangerous. These few are hunted down relentlessly by the government, the elite, the very highest of the rich. They are usually found when they are still children, and are either exterminated or taken to a secret lab where they are experimented on, to perhaps discover the origin of their power and how to take it. The general public doesn't know the whole story; these few from the poor who have a power are dubbed 'Hexes', and explained to the public as lethal, dangerous creatures who are mutants, byproducts of evil, not real humans, perhaps thieves who stole the power instead of being born with it. Maybe there's a specific elite force that has its sole purpose in capturing the Hexes.

[History] Caulder was born into a dirt-poor family, to parents Emma and Marc Jackson. Plants died if he touched them in a bad mood, bloomed magnificently if he did so in a good mood. Once when he and his younger sister Carrie were having an argument, she was knocked to the ground even though he was standing five feet away from her. His parents taught him to control his emotions, to hide his different-ness, and cautioned him to never, ever let others know what he could do. If he was found by Them...
Despite his parents' protection, Caulder was found by Them, as was inevitable. Them being the rich, of course. Those who held the light. The very elite. Caulder was fourteen then, and Emma was pregnant with Teddy. They came for him, and when Marc tried to protect Caulder, they killed him without a moment's hesitation.
They didn't kill Caulder, but took him to a lab, where they forced him through extensive experiments, none of them painless. They never did figure out exactly what his power was or how it worked, and eventually Caulder managed to escape with the help of his ability. Ever since, he's been living on the streets, surviving day to day, putting his energy into fighting the oppressive government however he can, even if it is on a small scale. He's a wanted criminal, convicted of various crimes as well as the biggest crime of all: simply being a Hex. He checks on his family from time to time, but doesn't let them know he's alive, as he doesn't want anyone harming his family to get to him.
[Hex Ability]Life-Force Manipulation ➙ Every person has a life force, the intangible energy that keeps them alive, that makes them human. In fact, every living thing has a life force, and Caulder has the unique ability to manipulate that very energy. He can see the life energy in a person; some are brighter while others are dim. He can whether they're weak and dying or strong and thriving; he can see if they have a powerful heart or a dark one. He can kill a person with his touch by draining away that life force; conversely, he can push that life energy into a person and strengthen them. His power is not a subtle one; he can use it as a psychic weapon, as too much energy can overload a person's brain. His power is, he feels, more a curse than a blessing, as it has taken him years to master. He still has moments where he cannot control it.
