It looks bad if a fan goes to your page and you have twelve likes.

I could use more likes too!www.facebook.com/LisaEmmeBooks
While page likes are great, to make this really work, we can help each other out by also like posts in our status feeds from each other. The more likes a particular post gets, the more FB distributes it to your followers.

That is an excellent point, Lisa. I wish you the best of luck!
I'm not sure I've posted here before. I've only had a Facebook page since early this year. Here is my Facebook page address: http://www.Facebook.com/Guardianofthe....
I liked everyone on here, except for the clothes. I deal in books. :) Here's mine:https://www.facebook.com/juephraimeau...

Simply liking a page does nothing. Facebook pages needs constant interaction via liking posts, sharing posts, commenting on posts, in order to keep afloat. Without interaction, a page isn't worth keeping. Unfortunately, with fb algorithms the way they are now, your post will only be seen by up to 10% of your 'likers'. The simple truth is that people really don't want the bother of interacting as much as is necessary with each other. FB pages are now nothing more than a 'who can get more page likes' game. That doesn't sell books or get your name known.
While I certainly appreciate the likes to my page (www.facebook.com/LisaEmmeBooks ), I am also really enjoying seeing the posts of other authors whose pages I have liked. I have been made aware of several great articles about publishing etc because I am now following other FB pages. I don't believe it is a waste of time and I'm really not looking at it as a way to sell my books. But Merita is right regarding the FB algorithms. The more a post is liked and commented on, the more FB will distribute it to your followers. That's why it is important to like your fellow authors' posts in your newsfeed.
Merita wrote: "Simply liking a page does nothing. Facebook pages needs constant interaction via liking posts, sharing posts, commenting on posts, in order to keep afloat. The rules have changed though and now it's harder and harder to get posts seen unless you have an engaged audience who not only likes your page - but likes your posts and makes comments, shares etc. When FB went public things at the company changed from collecting members to creating a cash flow....
Things online change regularly. What was important 5 years ago is what will get you nowhere today. Consider it this way.... What would be more valuable to you?
If I brought you 20 likes all of whom were interested in your product.
Or I brought you 1000 likes on whom maybe 10 were actually interested in your product.
Which option would you want?
The Business of Writing Group. If you want to meet authors, engage in discussion, and help others to and learn about marketing your book online - check out my Facebook Group
The Business of Writing Facebook Group = https://www.facebook.com/groups/busin...
Being an indie author takes more than just writing a book and uploading it for publishing. It takes marketing skill and business acumen.
This group is to help those serious authors who have already published to support each other make the dream of a writing profession a reality.
Rules:
1. Self promotion on Fridays only
2. No bullying
3. No x rated images, conversations, etc
4. No FB games or time wasting practices...
This group is about information, engagement, and helping each other.
I agree. I have a problem with FB because they go through your personal email database and suggest you like a person, then when you do, they block that person from your feed. This the same with LinkedIn. These are your friends, it has nothing to do with FB.

Shannon, because this is a closed group, there is no way to check it out, nor can I see any way to ask to be added to the group.

Ooops I guess I better fix that... thanks .... Made it public.... That might make things a bit easier...
What a great idea! Nice work, it's true, Facebook looks at 'Posts' that are liked and shows more of your posts because they are liked. This is for 'Posts' that you like, not pages. Though liking each other's pages is also a great idea.Mine's http://facebook.com/foxyemerson

Liked a ton already, please reciprocate, thanks!
Mark, the point is to like posts, not the authors page. Its the posts that need to be liked for this to be effective.
Hello everyone!I'm Jennifer Girardin, author of the Moriston House Mystery Series, and I have several posts on Facebook if anyone wants to like them, the link follows:

Thank you. Shared your video.
James, Jennifer the idea of this thread is to like the posts, not the page. Facebook algorithm promotes based on what people like. so the more people who like your posts the more visibility all round. Liking pages is wonderful but doesn't help show your posts.
