Sahar Baghaii | 9 comments First, I think we have to pick a place that serves delicious pie to continue our trend of coordinating our discussion location with a theme in the book.

Second, I am only five chapters in, but I am starting to warm up to the book. The first chapters started slow - maybe because Jack was the only narrator.

Pie and/or moose! Sounds like a healthy lunch to me.

I'm on Chapter 13 now, and my initial feeling is that I'm not going to get much out of this one. Jack and Mabel just seem to be one-dimensional "unhappy" people, and I'm getting frustrated at that lack of range. Still have a ways to go though, so maybe the snow child will warm up for me down the line :)

Sahar Baghaii | 9 comments The writing style reminds me of Strawberry Girl, which I have bad memories of as a child.

I am not as far as you, but I feel like most people or depressive and self conscious, but I get how that is not that interesting to read.

I just finished Chapter 13, and I like it so far. I don't think of Jack and Mabel as one-dimensional. They're in a hard place but I can see difference between how Jack and Mabel are dealing with it and the arrival of the snow child.

Sahar Baghaii | 9 comments I finished. I liked that the author did not make Faina's story the same as the Russian fairy tale. I think chapter 14 was a turning point in the story, where Faina (and a lot of other characters) become more fleshed out.

I am on the fence about the way Faina's story ends. I wish it would have been a little more vague as to what had happened. (view spoiler)
