Awesome LauraT. It is pretty good! I'm almost done with it and it is a dark version of Peter Pan but the artwork in it is amazing! ^_^ I hope you enjoy reading it. :)

I'm torn between what to read next. My choices currently are: 'White Oleander', 'The Book Thief', 'Allegiant' and 'Angelfall', but I'm sure I will change my mind any times during the weekend! I think I will also re-read 'Shatter Me' and 'Unravel Me' before the final part of the trilogy is released in Feb :) might read them next. I have faaaaaaaar too many books to read!!!
Same problem Becca: I think I'm starting some Christmas book next week, looking forward to the holidays!!!
Oh goodness I forgot all about Christmas books haha :-) will have to search for some good ones to read! I'm sure there will be some 'cheap and cheerful' ones for the Kindle.
I've got some nice files if you like Becca: Grisham's Skipping Christmas: Christmas with The Kranks, Miss Read's The Christmas Mouse a part from The Snow Child which is only "wintery"
I think I have one in the depths of my Kindle that I didn't get round to last year, but thanks anyway :)
I think after city of bones I'll tackle some of of the ebooks on my tablet like anthem and some other classics. If I can finish cob by Sunday, I can return it to my library when I go to renew my library card.
I will be reading The Quest for Christa T. by Christa Wolf and Jane Eyre next. Looking forward to both of them a lot!

Me too, along with The Snow Child

I'm picking up Alias Grace from the library tomorrow. Then I'll decide whether to read that orThe Importance of Being Earnest first. Is anyone else planning on reading the Oscar Wilde this month, or have all those who are reading it this time round already done so?

Jean, I've been planning to read the Oscar Wilde but haven't got round to it yet so hopefully I will be!
About to start some "wintery/christmas" books for our challenge: The Snowman and Skipping Christmas: Christmas with The Kranks
Christine, I loved Never Let Me Go, hope you'll enjoy it as well.Just a quick reminder: since on the app covers often don't show up, please always add the title as well. Thanks!
When I finish to read a substantial, satisfying and rich book I am not able to start soon another book. The characters, the plot, everything is still in my head and I think about it. After such books I must take a break of one or two days to be able to start a new book.Does it happen also to someone else?

Absolutely dely. And it certainly happened to me after finishing A Fine Balance which I think you've just read.
Jenny wrote: "Absolutely dely. And it certainly happened to me after finishing A Fine Balance which I think you've just read."Yes, it was such a rich book.
However, glad I'm not the only one!

Yes that happens to me quite often when I read a book and end up loving it. I just want to reread it again immediately and feel like no other book will satisfy me haha :)

That is such an interesting observation, Dely. And it sounds as if we seem to all feel this a little. But I am finding now that because of Goodreads I start to focus my thoughts straight after reading a book, so that I can write a review, and that really helps!
dely wrote: "When I finish to read a substantial, satisfying and rich book I am not able to start soon another book. The characters, the plot, everything is still in my head and I think about it. After such boo..."I think it depends on the book. If I've read something in depth that stays in my head, then I usually follow up with a really short, light read or a graphic novel. If the book didn't leave much of an impression I find I can jump straight into another one.

That's why I read more than one book at a time!!!! ;)

Some people say that about their pets, that it helps them cope if one dies, becuase they have others. But having had five cats at once plus 20-odd guinea pigs and a dog, I can say the theory doesn't really work. Each is a little heartbreak when they go.Not to get off-topic or anything!!! ;)
It is helpful with books, you're right Laura.

Definitly you can't do it with pets, especially if they're big and you live in a flat!!!! ;)

Christine wrote: "I will start next with Never Let Me Go and I might read The Snow Child later this month"Nice choices Christine! And a gentle reminder to include book titles in your posts, as covers don't always show up in the mobile app.
I will be reading Frost At Christmas in print and I must get to Zuleika Dobson, as it completes my A-to-Z challenge! Time is running out on my personal challenges...

thanks for pointing it out, will do :)
Christine, I've just been snooping around in your bookshelf to see whether you've already started on 'Never Let Me Go' and spotted that you are reading Hermione Lee's biography on Penelope Fitzgerald. How are you liking it?Also: on second glance a suspicious amount of German book titles in your bookshelf! ;) German? Austrian? Swiss? Oh do tell! ;)
HELP! I am in the wonderful position of having finished my 48 books this year challenge and will finish my O for my A-Z challenge today/tomorrow. The help is I am torn between 2 books I've wanted to read for ages and am lucky enough to have them both on my bookshelf. The solace of leaving early is one and The language of flowers the other. I can squeeze one in but doubt both. So which one ? The Language of Flowers or The Solace of Leaving Early
Well, then my advice would be to go for the one you've had longer. Sorry, I'm afraid that's not terribly helpful.

I have a kind of tip which I do. If I can't decide between two books then I usually read an ultra-short one, such as a young children's picture book which would just take one session, or else a short story. At the moment I have the Sherlock Holmes stories which do nicely for this! It may take two!! Or a short story on my kindle. Then for some reason, I find what I actually do want to read kicks in somehow. Maybe it's in the back of your mind all the time, and it's like "sleeping on it" when you have a hard decision to make.
Anyway, as I say, it works for me. Good luck! ;)

They are both books I want to read and really I am just trying to finish up my year of reading. So whichever it is makes no odds really might just toss for it lol
Was wondering if and when the challenge on the home page will re set for the New Year? any ideas ?
Jenny wrote: "Christine, I've just been snooping around in your bookshelf to see whether you've already started on 'Never Let Me Go' and spotted that you are reading Hermione Lee's biography on Penelope Fitzgera..."I live in Vienna, Austria. I am cross reading 2 audiobooks at the moment Penelope Fitzgerald: A Life and Human Voices. I really liked the biography.
My next book on my to read list is Melina Marchetta's The Pipers Son but i'll have to buy a copy as it isn't available on Kindle. She's an amazing Australian author and I can't wait to read it!
