Welcome to the challenge, Simon!

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Some really good reads listed already Simon.

How are you enjoying the Golem and The Jinni?

I have it on my bookshelf, propped up, cover facing up because it is such a great looking book. I got it the day it was released because I knew I had to have it and haven't gotten around to reading it yet, lol.

message 4: by Simon (new)

Simon So far I am really enjoying it - am about 50% or slightly further than 50% done already! Something about reading books on an e-reader makes a big difference in the number of books read. However, my next 3 will be actual books :(.

message 5: by Simon (new)

Simon Note: The other books on my list minus the one that says 'Currently Reading' are ones I want to read still, not ones I've already read.

message 6: by Simon (new)

Simon It's not letting me add a book to my challenge list above. Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks!

message 7: by Renee (new)

Renee | 72 comments I was wondering about that too. I can't do it from my phone but when I do it from the web it looks funny (the book title with some numbers) so I haven't posted that way.

message 8: by Simon (new)

Simon I managed to do this earlier via computer but now it's not working.

message 9: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments When you add a book's title by the add book/author link at the top of the posting box it will look like a book with some numbers (that's the html coding link numbers) but when you click on post msg it will not show the numbers. You can always click on the preview (in grey letters and in brackets) to see what your post will look like.

To add to your post you need to click on the edit link

My friends Dad told me I just had to read it and lent me his pre-released copy. I litterally sat down and read it in two days (I'm a really slow reader, last thing I read that fast was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when it came out). It is a simply marvelous story!

message 11: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I should get to it quickly then :-)

message 12: by Simon (new)

Simon Hi Cathie - It's still not adding the book link like it did before.

Are you trying to do it on a mobile app? If so it won't work I'm afraid, the 'add book / author' only works via the website rather than the app.

If that's not the problem ...... once you've started a comment and have to go back and edit, the 'add book / author' doesn't add where you place the cursor. It adds them to the bottom of the comment (you then have to copy and paste into the correct position).

Either of those the problem?

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Oh Simon you have some read I will be reading within the year. I really want to read The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker . I want to know what you think. Both Room by Emma Donoghue and Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline are on my A-Z challenge I already have mapped out for next year.

message 15: by Simon (new)

Simon Hi Sarah! Orphan Train interests me because of the historical aspect, and Room I heard is a popular book. Actually tried to read some of it maybe a week or so ago, but couldn't get into it. I'll try again sometime.

message 16: by Simon (new)

Simon Hi Lynn - I found that it actually is adding the link but it's at the bottom of the list each time, so I have to cut and paste as appropriate.

I had some difficulty getting into Room as well. It is written from the five year old's perspective, which is very strange. Good luck with it!

I'm glad you sorted out your link difficulties!

message 18: by Simon (new)

Simon Well, I am still reading 'The Golem and the Jinni' which I am liking so far. One of these days, I'll attempt the book again.

message 19: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Nice setup to the challenge Simon :-). I love the simplicity of just the book covers. I think I'll do this for the next A-Z Challenge :-)

message 20: by Simon (new)

Simon I am just over 100 pages from completing The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker !! Such a good story, and very unique genre. My next book Bunker Hill A City, a Siege, a Revolution by Nathaniel Philbrick is waiting for me to pick up at my library!

message 21: by Simon (new)

Simon I have finished The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker ! Such a wonderful story and a unique genre. Now on to my next book.

message 22: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Glad you liked it Simon.

message 23: by Simon (new)

Simon Now you have to read it instead of looking at its great cover!

message 24: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Yep :-)

message 25: by Renee (new)

Renee | 72 comments Same thing for me Simon- when I add books they go to the bottom and I have to copy and paste. Guess I'll saved Z book for last.
