Hi Tony,
To answer your question, I read mainly U.S. history. My favorite era is post Civil War to the 1930s but I also like revolutionary war. I haven't read much since the Revolutionary war to post Civil War but I have read John Jakes.

As to foreign history, I read very little. I've read all the Follet books. I'm very bad remembering names of books and don't have them in front of me but I'm sure you know what I mean when I say they are all over 1000 pages.

I just finished The Gift of Rain by Tan Twan Eng set in Malaysia during WWII.

Thanks for asking.

Tony Brooks Good to hear from you, Richard. We writers love to know that there are still avid readers out there. Have just read a very interesting article on the Brandywine River and the battle of same name. My novels are concerned with different aspects of Australian history. It did not begin and end with Ned Kelly. What, you've never heard of Ned Kelly?

Hi from, Tony Brooks

Hi Tony,
I haven't read any books on Australian history. Saw a couple of movies, one I thin was Run Rabbit and one where the Japanese bombed a northern city during WWII.

Tony Brooks Hi Richard, or anyone else who an help me. I have tried desperately to make a comment on Christopher's post about his book, 'Touched by Fire'. I wanted to compare his treatment of the blend of historical fact with story line, comparing his approach to mine. I keep being sent round in circles. Feeling a bit rejected/frustrated, HF moderators.

I'm not sure what you mean, Tony. The thread Christopher posted in is here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

You were able to comment here, so you should be able to comment over there as well.

Tony Brooks Hi Jackie, thanks for trying to help an old guy lost in the technoforest. I clicked on the link in your message and what do you know, it said that this page cannot be displayed. The thick plottens!

Jackie (thenightowl) | 2033 comments No problem. The problem seems to be on your end because others are able to respond and post in the thread. There aren't any pictures or large amounts of text either that would contribute to the problem.

When you get the 'page cannot be displayed' message is it a internet message or does it have the GR header above the message? If it's an internet message you may want to try clearing your cookies. If it displays with a GR header you can try contacting GR support: http://www.goodreads.com/about/contac...
