Jesica_petisu (dreamingyou) | 7 comments Hi everyone! I'm from south of Spain, I've been learning English for a few years, now I'm studying German in University but for me English is better so I would like to improve it and because of that I've started to read English books, I like LGBT English books because in Spanish there is very little variety and as a lesbian i want to read as much as possible and others English books, why not? I accept all recommendations.

P.D: it's great to find a place like this where you can comment about LGBT books and other stuffs, thank you and please, sorry about my english mistakes.

Nancy | 2838 comments Hi Jesica!

You write so well. I wish I had the time and energy to spend learning a foreign language. My Puerto Rican grandmother lived with us until I was 12 and she didn't speak a word of English. Sadly, my Spanish is so rusty. I can still understand quite a bit but have a difficult time speaking it.

You may enjoy Down to the Bone.

Welcome Jesica! You do write well. Like Nancy, I wish I could learn another language, especially Spanish, but time, energy and an old brain makes it hard. I took 3 years of German in school, but don't remember much and find it more difficult to translate than French or Spanish which I did not take. I always found it easier to write than speak a foreign language.

Do you have any genres you like to read?

Jesica_petisu (dreamingyou) | 7 comments Hello Kernos, thanks for your welcome, i have no preference for a particular genre, lately i'm reading lgbt, classics, fantasy...if it's a good book it doesn't matter the genre, i'll like it.

Maddy (maddykobar) | 49 comments Hola, Jessica! I took some Spanish and German in high school- what beautiful languages! I wish I could take more language courses but with the program I'm in now, it'd be just too much.

Here's some Lesbian lit that you might like. (I'm not sure what exactly you like so I'm going to just recommend a few that I really enjoyed).

The Well of Loneliness (a classic lesbian novel taking place during WWI in England- it's rather sad but well written) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...

Paitence and Sarah (based on a true story, a lesbian couple that lives together during the early 1800s in east coast America) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31...

Tipping the Velvet (an incedibly well written story of burlesque show preformers in victorian England- some of the characters might be considered Bisexual but it's really good) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56...

The Warrior's Path (a fantasy story about women warriors and their female companions who carefor them and follow them to battle- it had a very ledgendary feel to it. A lot like old Europe) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53...

The Witch Sea (an e-book short story that should be available on Amazon for free, it's a love story between a witch and a sea princess) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...

My Brain Hurts (a 2 volume comic about urban Punk gay and lesbian teens and the issues and love stories they have) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19... http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70...

Dykes to watch out For (a funny comic series about lesbians) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/65...

Julie Ann Peters has a lot of books about teen lesbians and bisexual girl characters but the best of her's that I've read so far was Keeping you a secret, which is a modern love story. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27...

Empress of The World (another modern teen novel about love between two girls at a summer camp, pretty good but not one of my favorite books)http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/47...

I also really like Rita Mae Brown but her stuff is a little out there. I enjoyed Rubyfruit Jungle the most. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...

Hopefully you enjoy some of these. Happy Reading! :)
