I like this task. I realized I haven't read as much literature from Africa as I would have liked and appreciate this chance to stretch my cultural reading.
I want to double check something. Am I correct that for this task we just go by where an author was born, not where they currently reside?So Claire of the Sea Light by Edwidge Danticat would qualify for this task because Danticat was born in Haiti, but would not get non western style points because she no longer resides in Haiti?

Correct - Although Danticat qualifies for this task, she seems to have American citizenship, so I believe she does not qualify for non-Western.
Saki was born in Myanmar, so he's one of the authors qualifying for this challenge. I'm trying to finish up this month with as many books in the Canon as possible. Saki is listed there as:•Saki (H. H. Munro) The Short Stories
I've seen several books of Saki's short stories, so can Liz or one of the mods let me know which one(s) would qualify for Canon points?

When there is a listing of short stories on the Canon, for our purposes, any collection will serve to fulfill the requirement.

Rabbits = quick/fast
Aha! Like hare, as in tortoise and ...!"Breeding like rabbits" is a well known phrase here, I suppose it also means fast, but it's generally not complimentary!

Ha! Well, I was trying to be Complimentary not UNcomplimentary. ;-)
Elizabeth, rest assured that I took your remark as a compliment. I've done pretty well on the readerboard, so I assumed it was a "tortoise and hare" reference. As for "breeding like rabbits" that one fits my parents...I'm the oldest of 10 kids!
