Breanna Joy What made the greats great? How did they get to be what they are? What is it that makes timeless generations fall in love?

Jeane (pinkbookdragon) | 323 comments Great question! I definitly think that it's a hard one to reply to with one large overarching sweep of an answer. I think that for many of them though it's that they changed the world, and there is something that we love about reading something that changed the world. :)

Mart Great question indeed. I think that the classic novels are those that simultaneously define an era (Anna Kerenina and Age of Innocence come to mind) and challenge us to question ourselves as individuals (Brave New World and Life of Pi). It's an incredibly difficult thing for a novelist to achieve.
