If you are anything like me you'll jump into Deeply Odd and then ... get very sad because you have to wait awhile for Saint Odd.
That's how I felt waiting first for Odd Apocalypse and then waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for Deeply Odd. Now I am not like that in waiting for Saint Odd because I know it will be he last Odd Thomas book. I probably will go back and re-read some of the earlier ones. If you haven't read it ... try the Odd Thomas Interlude.
Yup sorry. Like Harry Potter, the author told us there would be only so many books. That will be the last Odd Thomas book. But you can be like me and be rooting for a new Christopher Snow book!
I have only been reading him for a couple of years now. Christopher Snow?? I am not familiar with this character.
Hugh, Christopher Snow is from Dean Koontz's Fear Nothing and Seize the Night. If you enjoy Odd Thomas, I really think you will enjoy these books also.
Deeply Odd was the best of the Odd series so far. Koontz outdid himself AND showed some restraint in his lengthy descriptions. Also a peek into the future Odd-perhaps he will have allies for next battle. I loved this book.

Hugh wrote: "I have only been reading him for a couple of years now. Christopher Snow?? I am not familiar with this character."These 2 books were really fun to read. Dialogue was great to the point of LOL.
Odd is rather...well odd. His character is awesome though and I find myself laughing at him all the time. The series is wonderful with the exception of maybe one, for me anyway. I have read this series over and over. It's just one of those books that will stay with you for a long time.
Couldn't find an existing thread about the movie based on this book and I can't be bothered to start one so I'll just hijack this one instead. After watching most of Van Helsing yesterday, I'm in seriously doubt about what Mr Koontz was thinking having Stephen Sommers in on the project..
Is Van Helsing supposed to be a paradoy, a comedy?
IMDB lists genres as:Action | Adventure | Fantasy | Mystery | Thriller.
If that is what it's suppose to be then it failed miserably.
Anyway, then let's look at what else he's made, the Mummy, Scorpion King etc.. Can he really do Odd justice?
Thoughts?
Has anyone seen the movie yet?

Hi! Just wanted to share a few of my thoughts :)
I have seen the film and I thought it was very good! If you've seen films based on books before, servants of the twilight for example, they don't happen exactly as they do in the book but are based on the same events.
After reading the book first I knew it was going to be hard for the film to do it justice but I still enjoyed it. The only real criticisms I had were that i wished it were much longer (being about 90minutes) and a few things didn't happen the same as in the book but were obviously for the benefit of the big screen. That said they didn't ruin it.
My opinion is that some Odd fans may like it and some may not. I did enjoy it and do not think it will ruin the love of Odd for anyone that doesn't (just don't watch it again ;) )
Ps I enjoyed the Van Helsing film, not sure Hugh Jackman was the best pick though.
If you have any specific questions about the film like writing etc its not fresh in my mind but I'll try my best.
Hope this is useful and not just me waffling.

I know it was on youtube at one time, but it might have gotten pulled. I never got around to watching it.

FYI there was an existing thread, but since we have so many threads not all will show up on the homepage - only the topics with most recent activity are shown on the homepage. Additional topics can be found by clicking "Discussion Board" from the homepage.
The Odd Thomas Film thread can be found in the Movies and TV Folder: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...
This thread has become anything Odd so it doesn't really matter. There was also already a thread on Odd Apocalypse. At some point, I will post a thread in the Welcome to Koontzland folder explaining how to find topics that haven't had recent activity.

No one seems to have connected that the name of Fungus Man was Bob Robertson. This name is probably a reference for Twin Peaks evil ghost.
Yes, their apparence is not the same, just the name.

What is Twin Peaks? Other than the TV show or the restaurant in Texas.

It is on Netflix now. That is where I saw it.
I own the Twin Peaks box set :-) It aired before The X-Files and even features David Duchovny as an occasional guest star.
I enjoyed the Odd Thomas Film.
I enjoyed the Odd Thomas Film.
Showtime are making a sequel, 9 episodes, 25 years later.Lynch and Frost are involved.
No cast was confirmed yet, but all the alive actors said they want to be part of.
Huh......well I'm not sure how I feel about sequel for Twin Peaks.....there were story lines left unresolved but the damn show gave me the chills.....that was probably David Lynch.....lol
There were so many things in that show that were odd and didn't tie into anything else. Do you remember the weird doctor who had different colored lenses on each side of his glasses? Then there was that puppet-like guy who drove me crazy because you never knew what he was saying. Somehow I just can't imagine them redoing this series. I have not seen too many series where a new version of it was good.
I don't think they are re-doing Twin Peaks. I think it is Season Three, about 20 years later. You know like Dean is doing with the Chris Snow Series :-)
What comes next for Dean? I quickly looked to the back of Saint Odd to see if there was an excerpt of the next book to come out. But there wasn't.
AHHH!!!! I had a late day at work and forgot to pick up Saint Odd!!!! Barnes and Nobles right after work tomorrow !!!! :D
I have mine coming from Amazon this time. I also have a hold placed for the audiobook at the library.
Just a reminder for anyone who purchases a lot of books from Amazon. You can get Amazon Prime which gives you free 2 day shipping on many things. They raised the price of prime membership. I think it is $100 now. For me it is worth it because I get most of my Christmas gifts from Amazon and also other things. For example my Litter Genie refills are less expensive on Amazon than say from Walmart. You have to check it out but there are many things that are lower in price on Amazon. Not all things are eligible for Prime however.

Dustin, a litter genie is like a diaper genie but for cat waste disposal. It's a container which holds a special bag. You scoop wastes in and it keeps it covered (ie no smell from the waste). When the bag is full you cut the plastic and tie it up to dispose of the bag. Each "cartridge" holds many bags---I can't remember how many. I was putting the waste in ordinary bags but these seem to hold the odor as well as the waste itself without odor.
Do you have more than one cat? I only have one cat & we keep things old school :-)
