This village is located near waterfall, mortal man stumbles into village. This place is protected by last of one family, struggle between good and evil (The evil want to move from the mortal world). I believe it is a series. The most significant part of the setting is the waterfall, which is magical. Probably written in 2000-2008.

Iris--was the "last one of the family" part human? I read a book similar to this one where she's the one that has to protect the rest of the village from humans. If so, I'll search my books for you. But, since I'm presently at over 4k books, I don't really want to check unless you think that this IS the same book.

Kris - Unfortunately, this isn't the book. The main audience is adults, probably fantasy, maybe mystery. Thanks for your suggestion.

Ok, I THINK that it is Casting Spells (this is the first book in the Sugar Maple series.) And I believe that it's the one about the fight to protect--and keep the town on "our" Earth rather than on--in??--Faerie.)
