Kayla nodded as she cried. "He was my last hope to get away from them but he's been in the hospital.. So now I can't even visit him and there's no other family left.." Kayla said slowly while choking on tears.

Will hugs her again, "We'll figure something out Kayla. I won't let your parents so much as see you."
Kayla finally hugged him back, and the tears stopped. Nodding her head, she heard the doorbell go off and she froze.
Will whispers, "Go to my bedroom and shut the door. I'll tell you who it is and what happens whenn they leave." he stands up, gently pulling her with him and leads her to the bedroom, setting her on the bed. He shuts the bedroom door, then opens his front door withh a polite "Hello."
Kayla nodded, and held his hand tightly until he had to go. Sitting on the bed, she relaxed until she heard him open the front door.
"Hello. We'd like to report a missing girl." He held up a picture of Kayla. "She's been missing from her parents for quiet a while."

"Why are you coming to me to report something?" Will asks, "I'm just a teacher, there's nothing I could do even if I had seen that girl."
"I'm going to everyone in the school system just in case they know anything her whereabouts." The officer said.
Kayla held her breath hoping Will wouldn't give her away.

"I'm sorry sir, I can't help you. I wasn't even at school today." Will replies.
"Okay thank you." The officer walked away from the house into his car and drove off.
Kayla waited on the floor away from the door so if the officer came in he would see her.

Will closes and locks the door, then goes to Kayla. "Do you want to know?"
"Yes- wait no. I mean yes. I don't know.." She said quietly.
Will hugs her, "I'm geussing your parents reported you missing. An officer came by asking if I'd seen you."
Kayla hugged him back and froze when he told her that.
"I lied to him and said I hadn't." Will assures her. "I'm not letting your parents get you back."
"Why didn't you tell them they abused me.." Kayla said quietly.
"I didn't trust him. Another cop, maybe, but not him." Will answers.
"Why not him.?" She asks holding his shirt.
Will shakes his head, "You know how you get a feeling about a person? I got the feeling he wasn't trustworthy."
"Like my parents sent him only here?" Kayla asked quietly.
"Maybe." Will says. "If you want, we can go to the police station and report your parents abusing you."
Kayla shrugged. "Then I'd be sent to an adoption center since I'm under 18."
Will frowns, "There is that...."
"But in like 9 months I'm 18.." She said quietly. "But that's 9 months."
Will nods, "That's too long to wait. I would offer to adopt you but that would look suspicious with us so close in age."
Kayla nodded. "I wouldn't be able to be in your class anymore though.."
"We'll figure out something," Will promises, stroking her hair lightly.
Kayla nodded and leaned on his chest and closed her eyes.

Kayla took a deep breath, and was half asleep.
Will strokes her hair still. How could they report the abuse without Kala having to be adopted?
After thinking for a little bit Kayla said, "if I say I don't want to be adopted since I'll be 18 soon would they make me be adopted?"
"Well.... You could ask to be emaciated." Will muses. ((grrr... Not sure if I speled that right.))
"What does that mean.." Kayla asked quietly.
"You will basically become your own gaurdian." Will says, unsure how to explain it.
"You have to be 18.. I just remembered I looked it up before."
Will shakes his head, "To emanciate yourself you just have to be 16 or older, show that you have income to support yourself and somewhere to live."
"I have the streets.. and $3.."
"We can find you a job easily and there's aan apartment for rent close to here." Will says.
Kayla nodded. "Where would I even be able to work?"
"There's a convienent store down the road that's hiring. A McDonald's near the school." Will lists.
"I could try the convenient store I guess.." Kayla said.
Will nods, "Are you hungry?"
Will stands up and goes to the kitchen, "How does spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread sound?"
"It sounds good." Kayla said smiling.
Will smiles, "Good. Can you help with the salad please?" he asks, getting everything out.
"Yup!" Kayla walked over to him and helped him take out the salad things, and started making it.
Will smiles, then puts the noodles on to boil and starts browning the ground beef.
Kayla finished making it 3 minutes later.
Will adds the sauce and spices to the meat.
