anise I think most of the characters were portrayed excellently, but there are a few exceptions. I never really liked Sirius's actor, since I imagined him to be veryyyy different than how the movie made him. And Ginny in the books was a character I liked, while in the movies, she lacked any charisma or charm.

I agree! Luna and Unbridge were played well. And yes, it was nit Bonnie’s fault I really liked the actress and she seems to be fitting the personality. Only if the screen writers and directors had bothered about that character! She was a wonderful and progressive one. For the rest, yes sirius is not also potrayed well. He isnt gentle. He is reckless and full of humour. And well we all can argue with that moment in GoF. It really does the real Dumbledore bad. Last thing that lets not forget about Ron Weasley. All, I say ALL of his brave and character-defining lines were given to Hermione. Why? Because. hermione was the writers’ favourite. That some real partiality there.

The characters which were ruined also include Snape and Malfoy. They were both made from hatable to pitiful. I really hate that and that thing inspired some fans to make those so called FICs and ships with no sense.

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) | 54 comments Honestly in my opinion most of the actors were well cast, but didn't always have the greatest writing.

There's also the issue of casting child actors. No one could have predicted that Dan Radcliffe would be too short, Emma Watson too pretty, Tom Felton too handsome or Bonny Wright too tall (in comparison to Radcliffe).

I've always had an issue with Michael Gambon's Dumbledore. He turned the character into essentially a Gandalf knock-off. Even if that was the writing, Gambon actually refused to read the books and instead wanted to put his own spin on the character plus he LOOKED so much like Gandalf. He didn't care about capturing the essence of Dumbledore.

I agree with a lot of people about Fleur. The actress was pretty but apart from her wedding scene in DH (where she looked stunning) they didn't do enough to capture the whole Veela aspect of her.

I thought that ALL of the younger versions of Marauders era characters were horribly miscast. Especially James. His child actor in DH2 is blond and doesn't wear glasses, and in OotP he looks nothing like Harry. They didn't even make an effort.
Lily's eye colour thing is insulting considering she appears straight after Snape's last words about Harry having his mother's eyes. They prioritised casting an actress with red hair over eye colour.
Sirius is supposed to be super handsome. Which he definitely is not in OotP. Instead he's a typical Hollywood bully.
Young Snape never seemed like adult Snape. His greasy hair wasn't emphasised enough.

The adult Marauders were also way too old in comparison to their book counterparts, which sort of lessens the tragedy of their young lives and deaths.

mars | 15 comments ig you can fight about the beauty of fleur but I liked her as casting, to the eyes: Daniel was allergic to the green contacts so he couldn't change his eye colour
and tbh (I love Emma watson) but she was too pretty for Hermione, not just the fact that her hair just matched in the first two movies, but also that Hermione wasn't pretty at all in the books, her teeth. she was casted to pretty if you ask me

Demetra Walsma | 27 comments No hate to anybody involved, But personally Bonnie Wright, I think she did a good job with what she was given. But the whole shoelaces things ruins the character, Book Ginny is very fierce and brave, I see movie Ginny as dry and stand offish.

Jana :) | 10 comments Michael Gambon - He didn’t quite capture the essence of Dumbledore (all I have to say about this is: HARRY, DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!)

message 58: by Freja (new)

Freja | 14 comments I actually think the only person who absolutely fit their character was Alan Rickman as Severus Snape

Pearl Salzman | 111 comments I think either Micheal Gambon or Bonnie Wright who plays Ginny Weasley

shelby ☆ I agree that Bonnie Wright just wasn't a good fit for Ginny

mary sofia - SUMMER BREAK | 53 comments I have to start by saying that every actor did a great job...
but I didn't like Michael Gambon as Dumbledore - he was too rough and the demeanor wasn't right for Dumbledore

Madeline | 62 comments Ok, I think everyone did a great job, too, but Bonnie Wright kind of ruined Ginny for me. She totally looks the part, but just didn’t do it for me in the acting and portrayal. And I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH THE HARRY AND GINNY CHEMISTRY?!?!? That was painful to watch. It was also kind of Daniel Radcliffe’s fault too, he came across as very awkward, which wouldn’t be what I envisioned Harry as at all.

Prisha J | 12 comments So Everyone is talking bout Lupin but am I only one who pictured him exactly like that?
The actor for Ginny didn't fit the description but she did great.

But can we just aknowlege the fact that Siruis is spot on?

message 64: by CB (new)

CB | 138 comments There isn’t an actor that stands out to me as specifically not fitting. I feel like Petunia and Dudley could’ve been better because they were supposed to be blond, but that’s a really minor thing.

message 65: by Annabelle Pip (new)

Annabelle Pip | 3 comments I always imagined Narcissa Malfoy fully blond and more cold, Gilderoy Lockhart should be a bit less intellectual and Henry Cavill will always be my Cedric.
