Thanks Alana - I finally found the comment box and next to it the words add book / author so I finally was able to link a book.

Leslie, I will have a look later and see if we can add the buddy reads and what it looks like. I don’t want to overcrowd the page. it’s also difficult to keep track of when buddy reads finish to know to remove the book from the homepage, so I’m not sure it will work
I know what you're saying and thank you for considering it. The page shrinks to fit the number of reads. I just put Buddy Reads in the Why we're reading this section smand give 1-2 months as a general guide based on size. It just makes it easier for people to follow along since their discussion threads are always lower than all the other reads.
I think our buddy reads are much more relaxed than that. When people set them up most people sign up at the time and therefore can bookmark the thread themselves.
I will discuss with the other moderators to see if they feel changing is necessary

It wasn't to formalize it. It was to make it more obvious for those in multiple clubs who look in to not have to dig too hard for the Buddy Read.

Heather thanks for inviting me to set up the thread and I would like to say yes but I might be just as likely to forget as anyone else especially in the middle of term.
How would this be.... If I notice it's not been posted say 5/ 6 days before the upcoming weekend I just set it up and put a note in the ask the moderators thread? I presume it's just copy and paste, change dates .....? Not sure I'm up for adding up and posting totals.... post event only because I'm often then straight into another crazy work week with no time to go online for fun. But if I do find I have time I could just message mods to say will do this bit too? Or to ask someone else to do?
In terms of the long list of participants do you just add those onto the end of the original post as you notice they have signed up? Also what happens about notifications ? Sometimes I get an alert to say the post is up.... How does that happen....?
I certainly love the Readathon it's the one activity on AAB I seem to be able to regularly contribute too even if it is just to bump up page numbers!
I seem to have argued myself into a yes..... Let's see how I get along with setting up the June one....

Certainly try it out and i can help with counting up the totals if you like. That week will be good as I'm on my own and will probably be climbing the walls out of boredom then. I just couldn't do May because i was busy trying to finish my final essays.

Thanks Alannah.... Ok I am going to do it for this coming weekend 22nd June ... Is that right ? Because following weekend July 1st falls on the Sunday. But what happens about email notifications? Is that an automatic thing when the thread is posted?
Yeah, that seems right. I can send out the email notification for you. Just let me know when you've set the thread up.

No problem, let me know if you need anything else. I might send out a group email on Thursday if you like to remind everyone and include out the link to the thread again.

I'm not sure where to ask this, but I've just completed the 2018 Read the Name challenge and would like to pick another name to spell out. Is that ok with the rules of the challenge?

Hi. Tonight I accidentally deleted my review of The Song of Achilles while I was editing the "My Books" area. I clicked on the "x" without thinking, deleting the book itself, my review, etc. Everything. Is there any way I can retrieve my review? Probably not, but it does not hurt to ask. Thanks and good night.
B the BookAddict wrote: "Nichole, if you post on Amazon as well as GR, you could look for your review there."I sometimes post on Amazon. Unfortunately, I did not include this review. Depressing!
Thanks, anyway!
Maybe I should have asked here in the first place, but on the sub list for this qroup, "general chit chat, part 2" , I asked about what book to read next, but now I can't find the message, so I either am misrembering the date, the list,or it got deleted for some reason.Well, anyway, it was a question about what book I should read next. Could you direct me to the best forum or subforum to ask this question. I will describe the books I am considering when I find the right forum

I'm not sure about this Brian, the only time a post would be deleted is if it was considered as threatening another member in the group or you were promoting your own book. You're welcome to post again in this thread, https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Doesn't this look a bit suspicious? I admit I haven't opened the discussion, lest it contains a virus or something, but it seems suspicious to me, what with that title...

Thank you for bringing it to my attention, it didn't look like a virus but just very strange. I deleted it and the poster from the group.

Is there going to be a February read a thon. I missed out in December because I was recovering from an operation and January because I just forgot. Hope there is.
I just want to draw your attention to a possible problem with new group members who have just joined thousands of groups. See this thread:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Interesting reading over in the Feedback Group about these accounts.I certainly hope that AAB doesn't start deleting lurkers. I can be a bit of a lurker as I'm not really reading at the moment. But I love keeping in touch with the group by reading the posts each morning. (And of course This Day in Lit Hstory).
That's certainly the problem Bette, I have noticed what may be people who just read the posts and some have eventually posted. I had another look through the members and a good majority seem to be pretty active on the site.
I think we may have had one of those members in the group. The person was new to Goodreads but had joined nearly 3,000 groups in one day.
