Thanks Diane. I have found that one
B the BookAddict wrote: "Is anyone sending out an Event Invitation for August Read-a-thon?"Do you want to organize it this month Bette? I don't think it is too late...
If you want to Alannah, you can. Otherwise I should be able to do it.
Alannah wrote: "I don't mind."
If you're happy to do it that would be really great. I will concentrate on the group read polls!

It needs to be done via Event Invitation and you need to be a Moderator to use that function!Heather, if it's not too much trouble.
Could somebody take a look at the date for The Apology. There's a few different editions, with slightly differing titles, but they all seem to say first published in 1925, which I'm assuming should be much earlier?
Gill wrote: "Pink, I think your question would be better on the Librarians to the Rescue thread."That's where I meant to post it! Thanks Gill, I'll repost there now :)
Our group Readathon is due to start 26th September. Laura usually posts the Event for me, she knows how. Using the Event Invitation ensures that every member of AAB is aware of the Readathon. Please ask Laura or let me know and I'll send you a PM. Ta:)

@Leslie Any Moderator can create an Event Invitation. The info about the Readathon can be found on any of the previous months Invites. see link for last Sept: https://www.goodreads.com/event/show/...
I haven't started reading the book yet, but I was wondering, don't we have a discussion for our Classics read for October/November Around the World in Eighty Days? I couldn't find one...
Diane S.✨ wrote: "Promotion here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/..."Thanks, Diane. I've deleted it.
Maelanie wrote: "What does a moderators do?"Here are a few dictionary definition of moderator which apply to this situation:
"a member of an online message board or electronic mailing list with privileges and responsibilities to approve or reject messages and uphold the terms of service."
"someone who leads a discussion in a group and tells each person when to speak : someone who moderates a meeting or discussion"
Basically we make sure that the discussions here follow the stated rules & that no-one is posting inappropriately. Luckily, the members of this group are generally very polite & civilized even when they disagree so we mods don't have to do much!
Jean, thanks! I've put the correct link in the Group Announcement folder, unfortunately GR only allows for one broadcast message a day, but I will send one out again tomorrow ( in the meantime the 'who is cooler' poll might see it's finest and busiest day ever ;) Apologies!
Jean wrote: "Jenny - I've sent you a pm - (just saying it here just in case you get the discussions up first)"I did as well so I am guessing that you have gotten quite a lot of them. Ah well...
Thanks, Bette. The original post seems to have gone now, so I have also deleted yours which contains its content. Thanks for letting us know.
Thanks, Gill. I sent a PM to both Laura and Leslie before I remembered about this thread:/ Maybe one of them posted it. I found it really unsettling given today's Paris, Belgium, UK, USA and AU current crisis. That member seems to have posted a similar comment in quite a few groups and no other comment. Maybe GR is not the right place for that member.
Oh well; things have been looked after. I was wondering where it was the original post!!!
I do agree; GR is not a place for any person this way... not only GR though

Hi!
I can't find the discussion for The hangman's daughter. I don't remember when it was read either. Can you help me locate it?
Thanks :))

I don't remember when we read it as a group either as I had already read it by then. However, I did find the thread & here is the link:

Isn't message 608 in the link provided (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) advertising or promotion of a book?
We tend to talk about new releases if they're from authors we like/appreciated from other of their works...
What we rather don't like is self promotion: if you write a book and say yourself is good and worth buying.
This is how I see the matter...

I do remeber! Only I think I'll be in Turin from thar very friday to monday. So I won't be able of following all posts and counts. I can easily send out the invitation on the preceding monday and open the discussion, if someone could follow things up it'd be better though

Bette and Laura, I'd be happy to do counts or support if you need it. :)
