Hello Moderators! Really basic question - when a book has a certain deadline (eg, Atonement 12/31), does that mean the discussion starts that day? Thanks, and I'm sorry if I missed something totally obvious!
J.A. wrote: "Hello Moderators! Really basic question - when a book has a certain deadline (eg, Atonement 12/31), does that mean the discussion starts that day? Thanks, and I'm sorry if I missed something totall..."No, that is the official end of the discussion although we don't pay much attention to the dates here! So we start the discussion on this opening day of the group read and just ask that members try to avoid giving away any surprises by using the spoiler tags. So feel free to comment about Atonement in the group discussion now!
JA, I'm not a moderator, but I've been in the group some months; I think I can answer.
Discussion begins at the beginning of the period described, not the end. So for Atonement, it began on December 1st I think. If you do post early in the cycle though, you should use the spoiler tags to hide when you talk about key plot points in case others are not uo to that point yet. At the beginning of what you're trying to hide type the word spoiler between these brackets < > and at the end type /spoiler between the same brackets < >. If you do that what you enclosed will be hidden until someone clicks on it.
Probably way too verbose but there it is as I understand it :)

Thanks so much, Greg! I would have had no idea how to use the spoiler tags, so I appreciate the detail...not too verbose at all :)

Any answer please from any mod to my question 708 - 5 days ago now so maybe it's been overlooked ...

Last time I checked her tumblr account, she had posted something about not being bothered with goodreads anymore so was taking time out from the site.
Last time I checked her tumblr account, she had posted something about not being bothered with goodreads anymore so was taking time out from the site.
Can I weigh in here with an observer's point of view? Perhaps since Becca has not posted on GR for some time, if she doesn't reply to messages on GR, tumblr, twitter etc, it is time to remove her as a Mod or perhaps make her a Mod(on hiatus/sabbatical). I think the role of Mods is to be present and posting on our threads.Just a thought....
B the BookAddict wrote: "The dates 'inside' the Around the World challenge for 205 have not been altered from 2014."As far as I know, that is not possible to change until the 2014 one is done. Has it been definitely decided to repeat that challenge?
Gill wrote: "Please can you delete post 975 in non.fiction. It might have a virus attached. Thanks"Done!
Gill wrote: "Self promotion alert -New thread in general info section. Needs deleting."Done and messaged creator of thread as well.
Just moved my personal Dickens challenge to the 2015 folder, as it's a continuing one. Hope this is OK.I notice you're all discussing when to archive the 2014 reads. If they aren't closed for further comments, then we can all still access them, if anyone wants to add anything. Would this be a good idea, do you think?

Even once they are "archived", they are still accessible for commenting -- just might be harder for folks to find!
Hey there is a selfpromotional post in the what did you think? thread by Aaron so just wanted to let you know and Can you guys delete his post on my 2015 reads thread as that is where I just post my reads at? as he is bothering me and I have already blocked him. thanks.

Aaron(Reblast) wrote: "I am not self promoting, Shirley. You have the wrong impression. Please do not delete my post."Aaron, the post I deleted was on Amber's books thread. I can only presume you posted there by mistake.
Actually, our self promoting rule also applies to family members. We have a few authors, and people related to them in the group who do not self promote. There are lots of groups where this is allowed. Perhaps you could promote your sister's book in one of those?
When I click on where it says Polls near the top right of the screen, I can't see the latest non-fiction poll. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

It seems to be stuck down the page under poll #27, think this needs to be amended
Don't thank me, as I didn't do anything! By the time I checked the thread, the posts were already deleted.
I remember there being a thread about French books - both authors and books set in France - but I cannot find it. I have several books that really ought to be mentioned there. Could somebody give me a link to that thread? Thank you in advance.
