Susan Botes okay, so I read the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones... I really did enjoy it until I discovered that Jace and Clary are brother and sister... instantly I did not believe it..

yes, i Googled it. Now I am finished with City of Ashes... when will they find out that they are not brother and sister..

And honestly should I continue to read this series because I can't get myself to rate Cassandra Clare in the same ranks as people like Robin Hobb, Brandon Sanderson, George RR Martin...???

Sophie You really should! It gets sooooo much better in the third book. And if you really, really can't keep reading this series, at least read the prequel series The Infernal Devices- they are even better than the Mortal Instruments :)

(P.S- YOU GOOGLED IT?! AGGGGHHH. I could never do that to myself. I prefer to keep the suspense and read the rest of the books rather than spoil it for myself)

Anna They find out they're not related in City of Glass, the third book. As for if you should continue reading it, it really depends on what you enjoy reading. If you don't find yourself liking Cassandra Clare's work and you're not willing to give her another chance, then you shouldn't read it. It'll just make you not like a book and have bad feelings about it, and there's no point in feeling that way. I personally love this series and think that the books get better as they continue on. But if you really can't find yourself to enjoy these books, then I recommend giving them another chance to see if they get better, and if that doesn't work either, then just stop reading them.

Susan Botes Sophie I know... i know...
I was just SO stunned. I mean there was so much attraction between the two characters I just couldn't bare to not know...

I do enjoy it, and honestly i would say that Cassandra grew more on my during city of ashes...

Addee Agreed... TID series is much better than the first three TMI books, I didn't like them myself, however, TMI improves dramatically in CoFA & CoLS.

Hmm, I've read numerous comments where people prefer TID, but I prefer TMI over TID. Maybe because I read them first. I'm currently reading TID and it's really slow going.

I agree. TID is my favorite series at the moment, but I'm not crazy about TMI (only read the first 3 books so far).

Casey Haha I had to google it to! I just could not reading, knowing that the main pairing could be brother/sister (especially the romantic type scenes)
