@Lucinda: my favourite genre would probably have to be a tie between paranormal YA fiction (mainly mythology-based, such as series' by Tera Lynn Childs and The Alexa Montgomery Saga by H.D. Gordon), and regency/historical fiction (such as Julie Klassen's work).

Booknut, could you suggest some really good Young Adult fantasy books/ series??

{I read so much adult fantasy novels that i seem to overlook many popular ones that slot into the YA genre. For instance which i discovered recently and which impressed me. Many authors like Robin Hobb & Rothfuss commented that despite being YA fantasy, it was spectacular}.

Yes I have! And I agree - they are definitely an amazing series, which everyone should get around to reading at some point. Not only is the plot engaging, but the concepts the book is based on are unique and quite brilliantly interwoven, making it a singular example of YA fiction.
