The begining I was like, "That's not how they me Tyson, but that's alright I guess." And it was okay....until they messed up the mythology......

WHAT THE HECK!? I cannot believe they did that?! They raised Kronos on the second book!!!!! I know Rick has no saying in it, but COME ON

Gjorgjina Cenikj I hate hate hate the movie. It's sooo bad. No matter how painful, I've tried to leave the book aside and look at it as just a movie. Still sucked.

I know! Has anyone noticed that everyone is caught up in Hunger Games (waiting eagerly for the movie to come out) and Divergent (again wanting to go watch the movie) but no one really cared about Percy Jackson.

Reason why: IT DIDN'T FOLLOW THE BOOK!!!!

I actually liked who played Clarisse...she didn't haunt my nightmares......Lol. But i totally agree with you on all of it!

I mean I wasn't really mad so much as disappointed in the movie, but when the ending came I was like this....

Tv screen: Kronos rises.

Me: Wait what?

Tv screen: Percy fights Kronos.

Me: THEY DID WHAT?!

Tv Screen: They change the mythology (although that might have been before Kronos rose, who cares?)

Me: THAT'S IT, THAT'S IT. SOMEONE HOLD ME BACK I'M IN ATTACK MODE. WHO DIRECTED THIS. ERRRRRRRRR

Thedragon'slittlebird [THIS COMMENT IS PROBABLY FULL OF SPOILERS, SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE WARNED.]
The movie, as a movie, is pretty great. The actors are good, the special effects are good and the soundtrack is pretty cool (gotta respect anything that uses My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, unless it's an offensive thing, but oh well.) Also, Thalia's scene and actress were spot-on. I'm glad they got at least that right. But the movie, as a Percy Jackson movie, is terrible.
I mean, not the entirety of it. I'm used to some parts of the book being cut off in the movie adaption, it happens to every movie adaption, even in Lord of The Rings.
What I don't get is how the f**k they managed to botch the ending so f**king badly. That is NOT Kronos. Kronos is a golden-haired, golden-eyes classy guy in a suit, not a giant mindless monster. He's intelligent, he's cunning, and he has TIME-RELATED POWERS. Isn't that the entire point of him being Kronos? Kronos is the titan of Time! It's like they took Typhon and said, "you know what, children are dumb, they don't know who's Typhon. But they've got to know Kronos because they play God Of War, right? Typhon appears in that, but I doubt the children remember him, he's irrelevant. So let's just make it Kronos instead." They absolutely ruined the entire plot of the entire franchise in a matter of minutes. All the thought Riordan gave into this series just thrown in the trash for the sake of throwing nice 3D special effects in people's faces. That's absolutely outraging. The prophecy is not supposed to be about Percy, and the cursed blade is not Percy's sword. Not to mention how freaking ridiculous "Kronos" was; hell if it was that easy to beat Kronos, I'd do it myself, every day. And they should really decide already if they want to kill Luke or not, because his countless "deaths" are bothering the s*it outta me. That Annabeth scene was pointless, so was Tyson's "sacrifice"; but that doesn't really bother me. No, as I've said before, what actually bothers me is the ending. I can't fuc*ing believe it. And people complain about Eragon? At least that movie at least TRIED to do something right. The ones behind Sea Of Monsters were apparently just worried about cashing in on both the PJ franchise and 3D.
I won't stop watching the movies, because I really like PJ one way or another; I mean, assuming there WILL be other movies, because I don't understand how they could keep adapting the books if THERE ARE NO MORE BOOKS FOR THEM TO ADAPT; as in, they just killed the entire plot with one scene, for absolutely no f**king reason at all. I am just baffled. Baffled.

Thedragon'slittlebird deleted user wrote: "I don't agree. They have to change things. What's the point of it being exactly the same?"

It's not that it's exactly the same, it's that it's ENTIRELY different. Being different in some points is one thing, as in the Harry Potter movies, for example. They cut off a lot of stuff from the books but they're still faithful to their base material. Sea Of Monsters completely ruined the plot of the entire franchise with that ending. Have you actually read the books? We're not complaining because they changed some stuff, we're complaining because they changed it all. If this movie didn't have the PJ title and the PJ characters, it might as well have been another movie entirely, as in, not related to Percy Jackson at all. That's how horribly they butchered Riordan's story and worldbuilding.

Not to mention Amazon and UPS are supposed to be owned by the Amazons, not Hermes. But I guess that's irrelevant considering what they did to f**king Kronos.

Alyssa They messed up this whole series in movies. We already knew this with the first movie. They also made other problems with the other books/movies. Like Grover and Percy's empathy link. How will Grover figure out that Percy, Nico, and Bianca are in trouble in the Titans Curse or how will Percy find Grover when he goes missing? But even worse they messed up the chances of making the heroes of Olympus into a movie as well. By not going to the island where percy turns into a hamster they don't meet Hylla or Reyna. Therefore major things can't happen.

The movie by itself not going by the books was boring and hard to follow. I'm pretty sure that most everyone who has read the books won't watch/buy the movies unless they (like me) want to see if they could possibly mess up the movies anymore than they already have.

Actually rick riot Dan was extremely involved in the development of the first movie, the producers just completely ignored all his ideas that he eventually completely distanced himself from the movie saying it wasn’t part of his book series at all.
