What did the probes detect?

When the probes were sent to check out Centauri Earth, what did they detect as hostile? Was it the pterodactyl-like creatures, the rebel genetically-modified humans or was this just another lie to "protect" the people on Godspeed?

I love the trail of breadcrumbs throughout the series but still a little confused on this point.

I believe it was a mix of all of the above. I LOOOVED this series so much!

The "probes" detected the hostile intent of FRX to inject all the people of Godspeed and turn them into mindless obiedient slaves. We know this from recorded scene when the FRX rep meets with the first Eldest and want to inject him with what she calls a vaccine to alter his DNA to protect him from solar radiation. All the lies and new Eldest system were created to keep the Godspeed populace content to live in the ship forever. Of course, the irony is that the first Eldest ultimately need to resort to using phydus to maintain control on the ship which was exactly the fate he was protecting them from on Centauri Earth.
