Fell asleep last night so just starting this now.

Chapter Six - (view spoiler)[Poor Cinder. I knew Adri would give her for a test subject, although she didn't appear violent or terrifying when first introduced to the book. Believe it or not, I never read the synopsis for this. I just know that it's a retelling of Cinderella, but Dystopian, and the heroine is a cyborg. I admire the writing for this book. The pacing is just right to keep me thrilled and the concept feels original to me. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Ha! I was right! Cinder's immune to the plague. For some reason I figured maybe Prince Kai must've contracted it from the emperor then passed it to Cinder. But since she's immune, she must've passed it to Peony. IDK, just wondering.

This book is well-researched & well-written. I like it when books explain the medical/scientific stuff even though I won't get it immediately & I don't feign interest in Science. I just think that it's important to include and thoroughly explain those — how they put the disease, the possible reason of the microbes disappearing, Cinder's immunity, etc. Perhaps I just like to be introduced to the world more and I like to learn new things :) (hide spoiler)]

So, Shells are immune to the Glamour. That seems to explain why the Queen keeps exterminating them. How ridiculously desperate is that just for people to see you're beautiful! And how cruel and selfish! (hide spoiler)]

I just finished this 2 days ago and it was soooooo beautiful!!! I'd like to read Scarlet but I don't know when. Maybe I'll let you know, Red Solo Cup. :)

What I like most about this book Was how it had a Cinderella twist to it What I didn't know when I started this book But I absolutely loved it

Anyway, this might be a minor point. But there is lack of reference to Eastern culture since the setting is in New Beijing. Also, the execution of the fairy tale retelling is a bit weak, as well as the dystopian aspect. Yes, there is this futuristic feel, but the dystopian side, not much.

There is also lack of information about the Lunars. How do they run their government? How do they get to Earth that fast? Does the location of the Moon in this story is exactly like in real life? Who are they, really? And why are they at war with Earth? I really want to know more about them. I just hope this will be explained further in the next books.

Speaking of the next books, what exactly will Cinder's role will be? Scarlet is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, but how exactly will Cinder play out then?

The fact that Cinder is a cyborg and part human is quite confusing. How can she feel emotions, then? Are they programmed? I also want to know more about her past, and how exactly the scientists turned her into a cyborg. This part is something that I am not in a rush for answer, as this is only the 1st book. I just want to know how Cinder thinks for herself, if human or cyborg. (hide spoiler)]

Also, the book is too predictable. Other than that, the concept is unique and original and I enjoyed it.

I actually listened to Cinder and Scarlet on audiobooks, but I think I'd have loved them more if I'd read them. But they're so huge that I doubt I'll re-read.

11% - Okay so far. I like the Cinderella references. The dystopian setting is a little confusing so far but I am not that far in yet so hopefully it will all be explained. I am liking that this is set in a futuristic China. I have never read a book set there or even a Asian dystopian before.

Just a point of clarification needed: Is Cinder full cyborg?? I mean does she look like a robot or something like can you tell she is one by looking at her or does he have like fake flesh or something??

I really like this so far! Cinder is a nice character and gosh I love Iko! She's so cute.

Still liking it! A lot has happened already and it's really exciting and mysterious. I find myself really caring for Cinder (and Peony and Iko). I like the entire setting and cyborg/robot thing as well, it's so different from anything I've read before!

(view spoiler)[ I can't believe Adri made Cinder volunteer for the tests, it's so cruel! But after all, she is the mean stepmother. I wonder what will happen to Iko now that Cinder's gone.

As for Cinder, I'm eager to find out why they gave her the robot parts and why that chip is there at her spine. Maybe she was in some kind of accident? (hide spoiler)]

29% - (view spoiler)[Poor Cinder. Getting stuck with needles and given a disease against her will. I wonder why she was cured so soon. Some sort of technology in that chip on her spine?? I bet that accident never happened. The one that made her into a cyborg. Oh, maybe she was BORN that way! Wouldn't that be weird. Is that even possible??

And I fins it awfully rude of the lady to be talking to Prince Kai like that, as if his father is already Dad. For someone of political importance (well, I am assuming she is!) she has no tact. (hide spoiler)]

100% - Finished. Wow, pretty good overall. Not sure of the ending. I was a completely confused during the (view spoiler)[ball scene and the fight with the Queen and the jailing and everything. (hide spoiler)] And my theory was correct which is actually disappointing because then I wasn't shocked. Anyway, a strong four stars from me. Hope you girls are liking it to.
