Ivonne Rovira (goodreadscommiss_ivonne) | 106 comments Someone -- or, more likely, two someones -- created a pair of editions of Barry Maitland's Babel under the author name of Maitland, Barry. First, I went to delete them, but it was too late, and there some reviews already for both.

I tried to combine them with the other editions of Babel, but couldn't. I added an additional author, Barry Maitland, and I still couldn't. These books have no ISBN, ASIN or any other information other than the title and the incorrectly written name of the author (and now Barry Maitland added as a co-author in the correct fashion).

I combined the two Maitland, Barry versions of Babel to make it easier to -- well, to do whatever can be done. In short, help!

Cheers, Ivonne

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments I've sorted it out.

First: It's always better to merge than to outright delete, just in case.

Second: To combine books, the primary author needs to be the same. The secondary author doesn't affect combining.

Third: The easiest way to fix this is to edit the author profile which is incorrect and enter the correct name there. Unless the correct author is part of the GR Author program, this will fix the author name on all books credited to the incorrect name. (If the correct author is part of the GR Author program, you'll need an employee to merge the profiles.)

Fourth: Links to the books in question are always useful.

Thanks for catching this and posting it here!

Ivonne Rovira (goodreadscommiss_ivonne) | 106 comments Thanks SO much! I thought that once a book had reviews, you couldn't fix the author. Thanks for the fix AND the lesson. :-)
