Four times cursed big toe :0) Perhaps you should ask for some safety shoes for Christmas - ones with toe caps.

Ok wish me luck guys- have got a job interview tomorrow for a coffee shop which I'm hoping is going to be better hours than the restaurant!
Lots of luck, Laurel - I hope that If you get the job your cliental will consist of nice, undemanding (but heavy tipping) little old ladies and hunky young men.
Thanks! Lol Lee - how did you know they were my fav kind of customers? Ideally a coffee shop full of gorgeous blokes and not a screaming kid in sight!
Laurel you've turned into a hare!! (or is it a rabbit?) I love hares - I found out quite recently that we used to have an Easter Hare rather than a Bunny in England - a very old tradition.
I love the idea of a mouse with a funny hat :0)
Mouser just hit the Music Icon and opened up my best of Otis Redding album with her ear! Thereby indicating that she'd like me to share some of the Big O's works with you.
So here's Hard to Handle with some footage of swinging 60s types (and big pants) - enjoy.

LOL, any of those would probably be applicable! It was a bunny - I pinched it from Florence and the Machine's facebook page - the writing said 'I must become a lion-hearted girl' from the song 'Rabbit-Heart' - but I kept not recognising my own comments so have changed it back to my crows :)
Thanks Mouser for the Otis song! I stayed at my friends house the other day and their cat tried to eat my kindle - oops!

You must have had some of your recipe books in there :0)
Picked up a virus and, on what should be a great day for doing stuff including lots of reading, I've been asleep most of the time :(
Oh poor you! Better to get it out of the way before Christmas though I suppose
Been for a trial shift today and have got that job - I'm being taken on as a trainee shift leader which is cool :)
Thanks, guys, not after sympathy, though, just an excuse as to why I'm way behind the rest of you on Sense and Sensibility!!
Off to York today for the St Nicholas Christmas Fayre!! Very excited. I take my parents every year and we all love going so much - it's one of the first holidays we put in to all our respective workplaces to make sure we are all off work ;)
Sounds wonderful - I can smell the roast chestnuts and mulled wine :0) - have a lovely time
Hi everyone, haven't been around here much lately, so I'm way behind everyone. I've been listening to Bleak House as an Audio Book superbly narrated by Hugh Dickson. I'd like to get back into this group with Roger Ackroyd - if you guys will have me back, please. Also, adding my congrats to Laurel for the new job.
Very jealous Laurel, and don't be daft Maureen! I've read Roger Ackroyd before, it's quite short and you'll whizz through it.
Take you back, Maureen? We never let you go!! Great to see you posting again, hope all is OK.2 months ago, I started a 6-month fixed term contract. It was confirmed today that the contract is being terminated.
Because I've been made permanent!!!! :)
@Maureen - once a member of I Read Therefore I Am - always a member of I Read Therefore I Am - but not in a scary way :0)
Lovely to see you again. Bleak House is one of my favourite books - did you see the BBC adaptation a few years ago (with Gillian Anderson as Lady Deadlock) - it was excellent I thought.

Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone. Wow Ellie, that's fantastic news - where are you working?
Thanks everyone, I'm rather delighted. It means I can enjoy Christmas this year :)I'm Finance Manager for a horticultural company in Gloucestershire. Which means I look out over lots of greenery interspersed with the occasional cheerful primrose, pansy etc. and sometimes the pheasants go for a wander past my office window!
That's great Ellie, at least you've got a pleasant view must make the office work more enjoyable. Your employer must be pleased with your work if they've taken you on permanently after just a couple of months.
Do you remember the wonderful R Whites Lemonade adverts. Here's the original followed by one with a twist!
By the way did you know that the secret lemonade drinker is Elvis Costello's dad?!

Sorry should have said that he wrote and performed the song
We've just had Thanksgiving and Christmas is looming - and I have 12 books on my nightstand and in my kindle, that are being read one line at a time before I fall asleep. I hope you all have wonderful holidays and time to read!!!!
Happy holidays Bridget what are you reading at the moment?
Feline emergency this morning - normal service will be resumed this afternoon :0)
Hope mouser is fine. Poem of the day was very late. We were warned that the electricity was going off for the day (9.30 to 4.30) but when I went to log on at 9.00 they had already switched it off!! I had to wait until I got to my daughters at Sunderland to get any internet access. I just hope its on again when I get home or it's going to be a very long, cold and dark night.
