@Ellie - that is so awesome! You are very lucky to have a job you love and be surrounded by people who are so supportive. It's definitely an admirable situation :)@Lee - of COURSE I have seen this movie! It's the first Aussie movie I ever showed to my English husband and he loves it. We are always saying 'Shot, Dale' and 'I've cleared tray one 3 f***ing times!', oh and 'Tell him he's dreaming'. Its such an awesome film and I agree that everyone should watch it. Heartwarming :)
Have you seen 'Kenny'? That's another good one if you ever come across it. Also very quotable.
Just visited Amazon and ordered Kenny - thanks for the recommendation Angela.
@Angela - yep, I landed on my feet at last. I was working for a company that went into administration in 2011, and I panicked and dived straight into the first role I was offered, and I hated it. Then they made me redundant anyway and I did the exact same thing. When they made me redundant, I took some time out, did some temp roles and waited until something I really wanted came up. That strategy appears to have paid dividends :)

It's the weekend - and to celebrate here are the wonderful Flight of the Conchords and their take on the Pet Shop Boys

Good - I wasn't sure that you'd be too keen on those New Zealandies :0)
Thanks, Lee - just had to find the Pet Shop Boys on You Tube because after seeing that Conchords thing, I *needed* to hear West End Girls!!
It's a perfect take off isn't it?
Only slightly! Is it someone you've known for some time or a new acquaintance? Oops! Dog needs to go out, I'll have to continue this in the morning. Hope you're not too excited to sleep.
Yay! That's good news Ellie - you'll be having to watch the football in no time :0)
One important question - is he bookish?

Just a quick vent: how annoying are computers! I am trying to get everything set up for Open Uni and I downloaded the browser etc. they asked for then on the uni learning website it says browser isnt supported and the java is not working. I have NO idea how to fix the java thing - I have tried the old able/disable but it still blocks the site and I don't know which browser I am supposed to get now. Frustration!*exhale*
Thanks friends :)
@ Angela. I hate having to deal with things like this. Your post has contains all the words that send me into a spin ....... @Ellie I'm exited for you!
So it isn't just me that would have problems with this right? I am not a complete moron..?P.S. Ellie I am nervous for you - and excited! Just remember to have fun!
Angela that sounds really frustrating - have they not got a helpline you can phone/email? Cos it's not on really that you can't access it but I have no idea either and would probably be turning the air blue with my swearing at the computer by now! Hope you get it sorted ;)
Ellie - hope you enjoy yourself, I'm really excited for you too :)

@Angela - what a nightmare - that is the sort of thing that happens to me every time I try and change something on my Pc. I usually try googling to see if anyone else has had the problem - and quite often some kind person has posted something helpful.
Also @ Angela - you're no longer a cartoon! Just like Morten at the end of Take On Me. (Just in case A Ha didn't make it in Australis - http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc...)
@ Ellie lots of luck :0)

Thanks (sort of!) for this Lee, I've already got Life after Life, but after our discussions on the Bell Jar and remembering Janet Frame, I've bought After the Fall. Do you get an email about these or go looking for them, I don't seem to get any notification and goodness knows I buy enough from Amazon!
I subscribed (it's free) for a daily e-mail from here http://www.dailycheapreads.co.uk/. They let you know the kindle daily deals and other heavily reduced kindle books. Quite a lot of the time there is nothing of interest - but every now and then there's a gem

Sometimes, a particular version isn't supported by the site, so perhaps you were using the right browser, it's the version that's wrong. For instance, I have to use IE for one website at work, and it worked fine until my computer automatically updated it to the newer version of the browser which hadn't yet been supported by the website I use and I had to downgrade my browser so that I could work.

I called the website IT support and they told me that my browser WAS supported it's just they hadn't actually updated their own information. Fail.
All good to go and I start my course on Monday! :o)
No work for me today - Hooray! to celebrate here is Led Zeppelins very suitable Rain Song.
I love this video too - with scenes of a medieval? forest dwelling Robert Plant interspersed with him in his live performance glory - why could he never find a blouse that fitted?

Yay love the Zep!!! It isn't raining again down there is it? It's beautiful up here in the (not so) grim North and I'm off work too :)
Lucky you Lee! Hope you are relaxing with a nice cuppa and some chocolate hobnobs.... Or a wispa... Mmmm... ;)
Yes v rainy - so we're going to stay in and have a DVD/TV day - Columbo is on at the moment. Have you got any plans for enjoying the sunshine today?
Well the sun is going down now so we had dinner and are watching reruns of Spaced! Your day sounds lush! Open fire? Foot rub?
Spaced! - I love Spaced. pretend open fire yes - foot rub - probably not.
At the moment I'm listening to Nickel Creek (thanks Tracey) and haven't decided what I'm doing yet, going to see my best friend and goddaughter later on for tea - veggie chilli yum!
Spaced is classic! Tires is my fave character... I love veggie chilli Laurel... I think I'll have to cook up a batch now the weather is changing.
Yum indeed - that's our regular "thank goodness Monday is over" evening meal :0)
Tires - is he the one that takes them all to a rave?
Brian is my favourite - bless him
Brian is my favourite - bless him
Haha yes! And he dances to the sound of the phone ringing!! Brian is also great - fab in a Green Wing too.
Love this - always good to see someone appreciating the simple things of life!
I was going to save this for 3 random things, but opportunity knocks. I have hitch-hiked in excess of ten thousand miles across America in my youth, from 1972 to about 1980. I think it was in 1973 (the early '70s are kind of a blur) that I hitched from northern Illinois to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and back, approximately 1600 miles round trip, to see Led Zeppelin. They were touring for their fourth album, so I was blessed to see them do both Stairway to Heaven and Dazed and Confused in the same concert. Jimmy Page did a lengthy solo, him, his guitar, and a violin bow, in the middle of Dazed (the others actually left the stage for a break for about ten minutes). Getting arrested by a Tennessee State Trooper in Pulaski County on the way to the concert is another story all by itself... But what a great concert...
Hi all, been a busy few days!! Catching up on threads; Angela has been most cruel and mentioned chocolate hobnobs, my favourite biscuit, and I can't have any because I'm doing Slimming World :(Meanwhile, coffee. Went very well, was late back to work because I lost track of time. He's very nice, very gentlemanly, and seems to this I'm rather wonderful :)
