Emory It seems that the more physicists learn about reality at the sub-atomic level, the more they are willing to at least imply the notion of intelligent design.

Feliks No, not at all. I've not seen that in anything I've read. Because one of the main things they've discovered is the randomness inherent in the way structure is derived from atoms. In some aspects of atomic structure there is literally no way to engineer or pre-determine anything. Layers of more coherent patterns can be built as you change scale (think chaotic ocean waves atop regular ocean currents) but I don't think any of the latest quantum discoveries have suddenly converted physicists into 'believers'. If anything, they cling to their skepticism fiercer than ever; its the only thing they can cling to. If they give up their scientific discipline they are lost; they have nothing. Admiration for the complexity of nature doesn't mean acceptance of 'intelligent design' (aka creationism); anyone who has read Henri Bergson knows the folly of this path.
