Misfit | 102 comments I am hoping I've picked the right thread, if not my apologies. Helen Davis, author of Evita: My Life is not the same as the author info/books listed on this GR page,

Helen^Davis Misc

Misfit - this is a place to list disambig authors. I separated them and listed the two Helen's for Michael to put on the master list.

Abcdarian | 26579 comments Adding to the above:

3. Helen^^^Davis - British? academic

4. Helen^^^^Davis - journalist
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

Under Helen^Davis, the walking books are by the same author as Diagnosis and Management of Ocular Motility Disorders; the rest I haven't found, but would guess the 3 children's books might go together.

Vickie, it's important to provide links to each author. Thanks!

This thread is for listing authors that have already been separated, or disambiguated.

Work on disambig'ing them yourself, or ask for help in another thread. (A new one or one of the "this author needs help" threads.)

I apologize. I thought it was clear I was trying to be helpful. Clearly, it was not.

You asked a question, and I answered it. No subtext was intended, although I see that you felt some was. How could I have been clearer?

message 517: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments Vickie wrote: "Thanks for the helpful remark. I wanted to "work on them myself," thank you, and just wanted a little point in the right direction."

You never actually asked for step by step instructions, therefore snapping at someone who didn't read your mind reflects badly only on you.

But if you want step by step instructions, there is a librarian menu that can be reached from the help link at the bottom of each page. Specifically it's here:
http://www.goodreads.com/help/librarian

The section "separating authors with the same name" explains the process of disambiguation. (Scroll down or use your browser to search for that phrase.)

This thread is for completed disambiguations only. Which means going through each and every book and putting the correct number of spaces between the author's first and last names. Then you link to each new author profile, and indicate how many spaces were used for the disambiguation.

message 518: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl It's true that the title of the thread "please disambig" is confusing - it suggests that the person posting is requesting someone else to disambig. Maybe it should be called "I have just disambig'd".

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "It's true that the title of the thread "please disambig" is confusing - it suggests that the person posting is requesting someone else to disambig. Maybe it should be called "I have just disambig'd"."

It is explained in the first post:

With a great deal of thanks for the huge amount of work Michael has been doing, I thought it might be helpful to have a thread to put all the "please add these authors to the disambig list" requests.

It is also explained (in great detail) in the first post of the locked Disambiguation list thread:

Plch | 81 comments About the two Amanda Cross, there seems to be a big mess caused at least partly by Amazon that now seems to list all books by Amanda Cross as by Carolyn G. Heilbrun, although her real name is not even mentioned on the cover. Not only some editions of Heilbrun's detective novels are under her real name some under her pen name, some under both, making those books difficult to find (and to combine), but Carolyn G. Heilbrun appears to have written diet books too!
I'm trying to put some order but it will need time
