Eric I read his The Golden Gate -- the only modern verse novel I know of. I loved it! I was blown away by the tour de force, and engaged by the story.

I just thought about those weird verse books, guess you could call them novels, by Robinson Jeffers that nobody talks about any more. I read them when Vicki and I drove West, back in 1969.

I look forward to reading through your library!

Arlene I loved "Two Lives" - I've read it twice. He writes about two ordinary real people we'd never have heard of with such clarity and depth that their lives seem exceptional and heroic.

"An Equal Music" is a also wonderful. Seth clearly has a deep understanding of music, eastern and western.

Leslie I've read all by Vikram Seth except The Golden Gate, because of the verse. Thanks for your comments, I intend to check my library tomorrow. I've loved all of his books, and I can't say enough about A Suitable Boy-over 1400 pages, and I didn't want to to end.
