1. Because Pudge and the gang don't know what happened to her before she died, and so they try to find clues and in a sense find closure with Alaska. Pudge and the Colonel are looking for her in the metaphorical sense, looking for any information that can explain her death because they are simply not ready to let her go.

2. Amazing book!

1. I think the book is called looking for Alaska because all through out the book Miles is trying to understand Alaska. He's looking for her so he can reach out to her make her like him as he likes her. In the end he accepts that he never truly understand her that she was a mystery that was never solved.
