Short story without theme restriction is good I think.... We have still a long way to go regarding proofreading and smoothness in story is concerned.... Poems cant be compared to any type of story writing... too different

Agree with sohaib. I can't commit to participation in the next contest. I would like to, but it will depend on the dates, etc.i do propose giving contestants at least 2 weeks to come up with a story, and the judges another week for their decision.
Agreed with @Lara... I would still recommend themeless competition as this would be a hurdle for everyone to participate not to mention everyone would not participate with their best.....Any suggestion about proofreading??
I'm totally against theme-less competitions and won't participate in any since judging two different genres on the same scale doesn't sound fair to me; others might disagree. And I don't see how it would be a hurdle. It would rather be an opportunity to explore new territories. For once, I'd love to write about something I normally don't.
@Sohaib: Since your grammar is so perfect, why not take up proof-reading for everyone? Would mean a lot to some people I'm sure.
@Owaiz I have already responded to this specific question several times now... So I am not gonna repeat it againand reply to your other part of question judges never judge on the type of genre... The mark scheme is so general yet so specific that it gives room for the variation you think cant be compared...
I think the broad guidelines are already posted by Lara... So you can enlighten yourself
i see fire crackers here. WOHOOO!!!!

Oh please... jo pehle phisal jaten then wo ab bhi phisal jaten hain... And I am not complementing in that meaning :P
Everyone falls for flattery... The question is how much :P.... And btw it's not just the women who fall for flattery... All arrogant beings fall for it be it Men, Women, Slightly intelligent animals or Djins :P
You seriously havent met many women have you?? :P.... I have seen and met with quite a few that do that soooo delicately that men dont even know what hit them :\:PNope you arent an exception ;P... you just havent been wooed intelligently ;P
Aaaaa... not entirely what I meant... But my moral standards forbid me to actually explain what I meant to a lady.... so yeah... absolutely not what I meant :P
Aalia dearest I meant k my moral standards dont allow me to explain the "class" of compliments the women, I was referring to, give to flatter men.... Although yeah many others use "lesser" means too but again all proud beings are available for flattery you just need to know how ;PAgreed moral standards have nothing to do with flattery :)
well i have this wonderful quote that i hold dear to my heart. i hope you understand it...:D
"A fool (men) flatters himself, a wise woman flatters the fool."
LOL

Tsk tsk tsk.... such a narrow perception!!!! ;P
I think flattery gets you everywhere!!! lol At one point or another every human being in his life is susceptible to it. The trick is to realize the genuineness of it. I think if you are self confident enough, you can enjoy the compliments, get a little ego boost and still stay grounded. It's the poor low self-esteem souls who get caught up in it and fall for something unsavory! That holds true for men and women.

Explain please :P"

Zenab if you haven't noticed ego and flattery don't get along even if their friend Level headedness is their to create peace. girls fly straight to cloud 9 after they are flattered poorly and boys follow them because that's what they do and why they do it ;p

@Maira but they do... Flattery is nothing but ego boast... Though yeah level headedness always has to suffocate when ego and flattery team up :(
yeah. Look when we talk about Pakistani people. they take flattery to a whole new level. who doesn't like flattery? but it requires great will power and self-control to make you self stay on the surface of earth and not went ballistic on your ego to a level that your head can't fit through the door.
Well I think if you are self aware and confident then the flattery doesn't go to your head. I know myself, for example, if I know I look good then all he compliments work as ego boosts. When I know I look ainwey ee then the flattery means nothing.
So I think it's important to know yourself (unbiasedly). Then nothing can get you!
