message 60: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz My cousin has his xbox on all the time. And our houses is invaded by stupid guests for eid. Ek hafta pehle sir pe sawar hogay hain.

Ask Maira, or Lara, or Zenab. Don't ask Zenab, she's not one of those girls. She doesn't want; she's wanted.

message 61: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments Hehehehehe.... Aaho :P

Everyone wants to be wanted but everyone turns out to be the needy one :P:\

message 62: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz What happened in your case? Did you end up the needy one too?

Eid isn't Eid until you're tripping over people eating gahar ka halwa and kheer. Sadly in America woh Pakistan wala naza nahi aata. Yoy go to eid parties. Lekin no hangama. Is daga i have a bunch of cousins visiting. Can't be more excited!!!

Even the wanted ones want something!! Duniya un ke perchey aur woh kisi aur le peechey.
Door ke dhol uihaney
Grass is greener on the other side
Always want what you can't have
Etc...

@ahmad there is still time. Give it a try. You've got until midnight!!

message 66: by Owaiz (last edited Aug 03, 2013 05:01PM) (new)

Owaiz Our Eid is different. We don't have any family in Lahore. It's just Grandma and the uncles and their biwi bachay. We used to go to Ayubia or Kallar Kahar on Eid pehle but now we do nothing. We just wake up late, get ready, get eidi, go back to sleep. and sometimes go out for dinner. I hate Eid, though.

message 67: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments @Ahmed you can still participate... you have about 17hrs!!!!

@Zenab Both I guess... thats the irony :(... But why?? Why is there an inherent need to get what you cant get?? :(

message 68: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz Why do you want to know? Why can't you be content with all you know? Same reasons, yeah?

message 69: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments Well I know my reasons but dont know other's... Want to know what's the factor for them... Why is satisfaction out of reach for them... Just curious :\

message 70: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz Maybe it stems from motivations, a desire to do more and to get more. To reach higher.

message 71: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments Hmm...

message 72: by Zenab (new)

Zenab Ch | 2099 comments Mod
I think it's human nature. DNA. Encoded on our genes.
Survival instinct maybe. If you're content then you let your guards down. If you're always after something, especially knowing it's unattainable, it keeps you alive and going.

message 73: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments Nearly same as mine @Zenab :-P:-)

message 74: by Lara (new)

Lara Zuberi (larazuberi) | 571 comments I will quote a verse here, sorry don't remember the poets name: mil jaayay tho mitti hai, kho jaayay tho sona hai
It's human nature
The only positive side to dissatisfaction comes in the creative world, keep adding strokes until the painting looks better and better; keep rewriting your manuscript, or short story!!! until you can't see straight--
satisfaction is the death of creativity, isn't it?
Zaada philosophy ho gayee shayad..

message 75: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz @Lara: Yaar aap Urdu bhi bolti ho?

message 76: by Hassan (new)

Hassan | 21 comments Actually, desiring what you can't have or do,it's called "forbidden fruit syndrome" and it mutated in our DNA right from the start (The Adam and Eve story). What comes easy,no matter how awesome it is,has little value in the eyes of a person possessing it.

Sohaib wrote: "Waisay aik baat hai... why do girls always fall for men they know they cant have?? :-\"

the girls you are talking about are looking for a hard to get game. in the end they usually get stuck with guys their parents set them up with. :P

i agree with Hassan's theory too.

message 83: by Rao (new)

Rao Javed | 713 comments AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I have written 2300 words and still story has not completed yet.

message 84: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments Hehehehe... @Rao seriously people I am surprised at how many words u can manage in a short story... i write max 1000 words and I feel exhausted :-P:-P... Remember its a "short" story... the first rule of short story writing is to keep the plot as manageable as u can... too many arcs and u ruin it, too few and u make it tasteless... prudence people.. follow prudence!!!

message 85: by Zenab (new)

message 87: by Owaiz (new)

Owaiz I forgot what my philosophy was. Jog my memory?

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

@Aalia i think the correct term is Dissociative identity Disorder...multiple personality disorder sounds too layman-ish ;)

i guess that's it when it comes to @Owaiz...one personality is him and the other is of whoever currently possesses him...so two personalities...a hybrid of DID and possession...simple ;)

message 92: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments @Aalia thats the beauty of it all... in short stories you dont need to take all the ideas... use just max two and combine them... dont overdo it with the brainstorming :)
